“A perfect address in Fulham/Knightsbridge”
Reviewed 31 May 2012

Asburn hotel is situated in an attractive stucco building, turn of century, perfectly located to walk to Fulham and to Knightsbridge, on Cromwell road, yet well insulated, with most comfortable beds, we slept divinely.
The decor was sobre, attractive and very recently renovated, the staff helpful, the breakfast buffet copious, all in all a most pleasant two nights

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher floors, the fifth is ideal

I choce this hotel from reviews I had read here, and was not disappointed. It is really close to Gloucester Road tube station (we got the tube directly from Heathrow airport) but also easy walking distance to loads of shops and restaurants. We booked both a queen and king sized room. Both were immaculate, with complimentary tea / coffee and water, magazines and newspapers. The bed was really comfortable and hotel was quiet so I had a really good nights sleep. Also a big plus was that the rooms were air conditioned.
However there were a couple of negatives, firstly breakfast at weekends doesn't start until 8am, by five past eight, the dining room was half full which shows that other guests felt the same. Secondly, maid service didn't top up the tea and coffee in the rooms that had been used (however when I asked at reception this was sorted no problem).
I found all the staff to be helpful, very knowledgable and welcoming.
Overall the hotel was excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to use it again next time.

Spent one night at The Ashburn before leaving on Eurostar for Paris. The location is perfect for touring London - very, very close to the Gloucester Road tube station and great proximity to shops and restaurants. Staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The room (though small by American standards as all European rooms are) was very well appointed - the bed was very comfortable and the room had all the amenities - the bathrobes are a nice touch and very welcome after 14 + hours of traveling! I would definitely stay at the Ashburn again!

I wish there was a "good" rating because my experience was between average and very good.
Things I liked:
1.Very comfortable bed, had a good sleep
2.Staff is very efficient, except for bartender, and cleanliness of room was A+
3.They were very accomodating when I asked them to freeze breastmilk expressed for my baby since their fridge was not very cold, special thanks to Skaiste the receptionist
4.Skaiste also did her best to find me a room when we got there before check-in time.

Things I did not like
1.the thermostat was set very high to compensate for the fact that window was not closing properly, note to hotel management, better to fix the source of problem to save on your energy bills
2.Staff seemed a bit stressedout and anxious about their job, theywere very efficient but it seemed as though they were very scared of the general manager which is why they do a good job but just seem worried.
3. When my friends came to visit and we sat in the lobby bar, the GM kind of ordered us, rather than ask us to have a drink. I don't know if it's me misinterpreting his body and facial language or if they don't let you sit without ordering something.
4.Fridge was not cold enough

I think the general manager needs to lighten up and smile more, it would make for a happier team and would suit him because he is otherwise a very attractive man :)

Ok, having bugs in my room on the first night kinda sets my review. I have been offered another room but overall I did no feel any service. The room (the second that is) was fine, clean and comfortable. But the overall feel of the hotel is distant. The breakfast options are very limited, £5 for a roomservice coffee is overpriced. Bad advice on the fitness options nearby. The WIFI was really, really slow (very discomforting in 2012). At checking out, the system was down so no printed bill to top if off. Overall, great possibilities in terms of location and room but the human factor made it a 'never go back' experience.
