Another nice stay at the Phoenix Hotel. The problem with a summer stay is that there is no air-conditioning and the rooms get very hot. The hotel is fine at other times of the year - it is very convenient for Bayswater and Queensway tube stations and for a walk in Kensington Gardens. Just down the street is the Café Anglais for a chic setting and an excellent meal (either snack - soup/omelette or full-course delicious dinner). Next door on the corner is Whiteley's department store which has lots of different shops to explore! Have a good time!

Let me start by saying there is nothing wrong with this hotel and if you need somewhere reasonably priced in London to stay for a couple of nights then this is somewhere you should consider. If there was a three-and-a-half rating on TripAdvisor that's what I'd give it.

It is a couple of minutes from Queensway tube station, a 15-minute walk from Paddington station and situated just north of Kensington Gardens. Plenty of shops, cafes and bars close by.

Breakfast is OK, but nothing to rave about. No room service other than snacks.

My room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. So, if you need a base to explore London and are not too bothered about staying somewhere grand or modern this could be an option for you.

Stayed for 2 nights. Great central location. 5 minute walk to the Tube. The room and bathroom was a good size. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was nice and a good selection available.
Free wi-fi was an added bonus. Very reasonable stay rates.

This hotel is in a great area and is a short stroll to 2 tube stations, Bayswater and Queensway and it is a couple of stops to Paddngton Station. It is a block from Hyde Park and has a vibrant high street with great restaurants, shopping that are open fairly late. It is a safe neighborhood for walking later at night also. Our family loves boutique style hotels but no air conditioning during the recent heat wave in London really hampered our enjoyment of our short stay there. We stayed in the family room with 4 beds and it was bright and fairly spacious for Europe standards but it was up to 29 degrees Celsius some evenings and the fans provided didn't help much. Some great staff there, Tolis and Voila especially but some of the front reception staff were not helpful and welcoming. We understand London was busy for the Olympics but we didn't get a good impression from the front lines staff when we checked in. Decent breakfast in the morning, okay bar. It was great to have free wi-fi and be able to print off boarding passes etc. at the computer for all the guests. One thing we realized about London is that with the excellent transportation system you can stay almost anywhere but get air conditioning in the summer!!!

Stayed for 5 nights in fall 2011. Hotel was very clean and comfortable; digital tv had excellent reception, as did the wireless internet. Continental breakfast selection was very nice and staff was friendly? Bathroom was clean and well-stocked and somewhat large by English standards. If you arrive before check-in time, the hotel has a safe room where you can store your luggage. We didn't spend much time in the lobby, but it looked clean and nicely furnished, and there is a bar. The hotel is about a block and a half from the Bayswater tube station and is centrally located, so it's very easy to get to all the major sightseeing areas. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from on nearby Queensway, and the neighborhood felt very safe.
