As a Beatles fan, this was a must see on my recent trip to London. It is only 5 minute walk from the tube stop. I was there on a cold, rainy weekday morning in early March and it was very low key - just another suburban intersection. But there is a lot of musical history here (not just the Beatles) and you get that sense from some of the photos in the adjacent gift shop. If you area music fan and have some time, it is well worth it to take the tube and make the short trip to Abbey Road.

My husband is a Beatles fan - me, not so much. However, the tube journey was short. It was easy to find and surprisingly enjoyable (for a zebra crossing). The shop was good and it felt good to be there.

As they say , you don't have to have a long neck to be a Goose ! Felt a bit strange on a wet , cold morning to be prancing back & forth under the directors (Wife) orders !! I can safely tell you that most Bus drivers & Taxi operators are WAY over it !! No slowing down & hands on Horns !! But it was funny to see this disparate group of people smiling & laughing at doing this little bit of historical re-enactment !! Good Fun I Thought ?

Abbey Rd zebra crossing - considered a nuisance by the council, iconographic by Beatles fans, is now basically so worn in places as to be rendered part of the blackstuff. The studios themselves are not accessible to the public - only to the musicians using them. Interesting though, is the tiny size of the studios from the outside at least. All of this looms far larger in the imagination than it does in reality.
The Abbey Road Shop is offered by way of some compensation for not having access to where the album was cut. Here there are many items for sale that are reminiscent of the great band as well as themed pieces like a pizza cutter in the shape of a record stylus.
Find time to either contribute to or leave a bit of graffitti. And have a good look around this beautiful St Johns Wood avenue. The houses are spectacular.

It was so nice watching all those people walking across the famous pedestrian crossing, taking photos of each other. And everybody had smiles on their faces, great atmosphere. And very patient car and bus drivers, who take care not to hit the photographers in the middle of the road.
Easy to get to: just take the underground to St. John's Wood station and from there it is only a 5 minutes walk. Nice wee Beatles merchandise shop at the underground station as well, even though there is a bigger and better one in Baker Street.
