“Lovely Hotel, Helpful and Friendly Staff!”
Reviewed 29 July 2012

We stayed three nights at Base2Stay in Kensington,London. It was easy to get from the hotel to everywhere we wanted to go and things we wanted to see. It's about a three minute walk from the tube station. The hotel was very clean and tidy, nice to come back to after a long day sight seeing. Free wifi which was very good! Also you can use the internet on the T.V! We constantly went down to the local pub across the road from Earls Court Station on the corner (Can't quite remember the name), which was absolutely lovely and we really enjoyed it. The people around there we're very friendly and willing to help out. Lots of shops and restaurants around so you're sorted for dinner. We went to a lovely italian restaurant just beautiful! We also bought a few snacks for the room and groceries at the local restaurants and used the little refrigerator that also has a kitchenette. Would recommend this for anyone travelling, would defiantly stay there again any time!

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, our rooms we're very quiet we we're situated in rooms G10 and G12

We didn't regret this choice of hotel at all, as it is modern with pleasant, smiling staff and in a very convenient location. We stayed 3 nights, and although the room was somewhat cramped for the 3 of us(one grown-up son on the pull-out sofa bed) after the more spacious suites we stayed in around Europe, it was well-appointed and comfortable. This is London after all! Earl's Court, the nearest tube station, is very well placed if you want to take the tube to/from Heathrow, as it has a lift(elevator) to access the Piccadilly & District lines, so no heaving of heavy bags required, and also a direct run to/from the airport without changing at any stations. However, we took a taxi as we had several bags, and that costs 40 GBP, which makes sense if you are 3 people or more in the group.
The check-in was smooth and the room well fitted out. The tiny kitchenette with fridge, microwave, crockery/glassware, kettle and sink proved handy, as we brought our breakfast provisions & water at the M&S Simply Food down the road and ate before we left for the day. There are also plenty of good pubs, restaurants and eateries close by (Pret a Manger, Greggs near the tube station) and the hotel has its own restaurant directory and a discount offer for a range of well-priced eateries nearby as well. The central location also meant we could return to base to freshen up, have a cup of tea or rest before heading out for dinner.
The room has a flat screen TV, good wifi, and sufficient plug points for all our phones/laptops etc. Comfortable beds, but they could consider installing blackout blinds - every hotel has them these days. Safe, hairdryer, good bathroom with a decent shower and clean towels. Very helpful receptionists, who called us a cab when required, gave directions when required and loaned us their computer to print out our boarding passes - there is also a public desktop at the reception. Security is good - access is controlled via key cards. This place is another TA success story, and a testament to the power of honest reviews by customers. All in all, a very happy experience, and yes, we would be back to stay again.
A tip for those travelling with traveller cheques :avoid pricey money changers and go to the post office to encash your TCs - there's one opposite the station. They charge zero commission.)

Room Tip: The hotel is based in a quiet road in Kensington, just off the main road, so we had no issues with n...

All the reviews about base2stay are true! It is a central boutique hotel with character in the heart of London. Well worth staying there, even if you live in relatively near to London but want to avoid the late night train ride home after a night in London.

Room Tip: Rooms in L 8 and 9 are quiet

We stayed 2 nights at base2stay. It was extremely easy to get to from Heathrow, even after a long flight. Just a few short blocks from the tube station. The hotel was very clean. And free wifi - why can't all hotels provide this service? Our only complaint was our location on a courtyard with very early trash pickup and some painters right outside our window. But those were very minor and we would definitely stay again. We really enjoyed the neighborhood. Lots of families, children, shops and restaurants. We did take advantage of the discounts at the local restaurants and also used the in-room refrigerator for fruit and breakfast items. The Earls Court underground stop made it very easy to get us everywhere we wanted to go.

A great hotel with a very nice location! The service was excellent and they have relationships with good nearby restaurants that get you between 10% and 20% off. Even though South Kensington is a little out of the way, the Earls Court underground stop gets you on the District and the Piccadilly lines which took us everywhere we needed to go during our four day stay in London (we never transferred, not once).
