“Wonderful Wizard of Oz”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

We picked up half-price tickets for the Wednesday matinee at the half-price ticket booth, Leicester Square. It was great!

The Palladium is full of the kitchy glamour of yesteryear - a bust of Sir Brucie and lots of photo memorabilia of stars of the 50's and 60's - Tommy Steele, Harry Seecombe...

Wizard of Oz is a fine show - brilliantly staged, with an interesting use of film to depict the cyclone at the beginning. All the favourite songs are there, plus some extras by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, and the cast was in fine voice .

Russell Grant was great as the Wizard/Professor Marvel - we really enjoyed his performance. The Wicked Witch was really good and we loved her evil flying monkeys.

It was interesting to see a real dog on the stage - Toto was a real trooper, but we were a bit disappointed that the munchkins were played by full-size adults plus a few kids.

It was a very enjoyable show - we had a great time.

“Great show”
Reviewed 28 February 2012

Enjoued a magical evening with my partner at Les Mis in February. Great performances, great songs, fantastic set design and a suprisingly respectful crowd (I didn't notice a mobile phone all evening). Totally absorbing show and storyline. Take a hankie! By the third death I was a bit worse for wear.
