Owner description: The Florence Nightingale Museum celebrates the life and work of one of the best known figures in nursing history and one of Britain's great Victorians who truly changed the world. Located within St Thomas’ Hospital, the museum was opened in 1989 and now forms a key part of London’s heritage-offer, with visitors arriving from across the world. The collection consists of personal material associated with Florence Nightingale, items relating to the Crimean War and nursing artefacts. The museum offers a free introductory highlights tour daily at 3.30pm with additional tours available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11.30am. Guided talks by museum staff and Florence Nightingale herself are available if booked in advance, including tours in German and Italian. A good way to honour a remarkable woman. It’s not a massive museum so an hour is plenty of time. When we were there there was an enactment and the lady playing Florence was superb. Enjoyable and informative.

Found the museum quite by accident really online and my seven year old is currently studying Florence Nightingale at school so we decided to pay a visit. There was so much I did not know about her, and it was really great to find out about her early life and what she did after the Crimean War. Great little gift shop too!

As a nurse, I felt a duty to pay a visit, since I was unaware of the museum on my last London visit. While Im not really a museum person, I found this one very educational and well done; I was enthusiastically surprised. A must see for nurses, and a worthy small scale museum. I was touched by all the personal belongings on display.

I do not like to write negative reviews but felt disappointed after our visit today. Visited with a 4 and 14 year old and can honestly say none of us enjoyed it. Very small, some of sections really low to look in to peep holes.

Such a shame as was very excited on visiting. I think this is aimed mainly at nurses.

It’s free for 4 and under and £3.50 for under 16 and Adults pay £7.50 wasn’t value for money as barely spent 1 hour there.

Positive point staff very friendly on arrival. Only recommend if your a nurse or interested in being a nurse.

Thank you for your kind comments about our staff. We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit and value your feedback which we will help influence future developments at the Museum. Whilst our site is particularly popular with nurses we do welcome all visitors, many of who enjoy their visit, although sadly on this occasion that doesn't appear to be the case.

While in the area of St Thomas' Hospital stop in and visit the Florence Nightingale Museum and learn more about the British nurse from the 1800s who was a key player in improving health care
