We had no real idea of the huge beneficial contribution that the Jewish people have made to British life. This museum looks forward from the dark days of persecution, and shows so many other facets of the gains to this country from the many cultural, scientific, medical, arts and business contributions. We left feeling educated and uplifted.

My wife and I spent three hours looking round this small, modern museum which tells the story of Jews in Britain from 1066 to the present, and of Jewish religion and festivals.

The museum, which was completely overhauled in 2010, struck, for us, the perfect balance between artifacts and interpretation. We could have spent much longer there if we'd worked through all the menus of the interactive audio-visual displays.

We had an excellent light lunch in the museum cafe.

Well worth the short trip from central London and the admission fee.

I originally visited this museum some years ago in its original form.whilst interesting it was rather outdated in its outlook and presenation.it was refurbished a few years ago.now it is bang uptodate.in my view it is the best Jewish museum that i have visited in europe. There is a considerable amount of touch screen technology and video presentations.I spent the best part of an hour on the entertainers exhibition on the 3rd floor.i especially liked the presentation showing you how to speak Shakespeare in Yiddish !I also found poigniant the exhibition dedicated to holocaust survivor Leon Greenman. When the museum was temporarily located to Finchley there was an exhibition about his life.He was there in person and i spent about an hour talking to him. What a brave and sad man.So courageous with his life ruined having lost his wife and only child.Alas he is no longer with us.however there is a video of him speaking about his experiences. In my view leaving aside the main museums such as the IWM,British Museum, this is one of the best of the smaller museums in the UK.Well worth a couple of hours of your time.
