“London's Best Steak?”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

Very friendly, welcoming, attentive yet unintrusive staff greet and dote on you as soon as you enter. Immediately notable is the relaxing music, tasteful decor and the combined with the dimmed lighting this gives the place a nice ambience, I'd be happy to come here just to enjoy cocktails or have a gourmet meal here and would do so comfortably. I went on my own and felt comfortable, I'd also happily return with friends and intend to do so, it would also make a great place to eat with your partner, or colleagues I was welcomed by the manager, Ryan and after a chat about being a steak lover but still wanting to savour the Mexican fayre he recommended me a nice traditional starter then the Rib-Eye steak. I am very demanding when it comes to good steak but this blew away expectations. It was obviously cooked on the right heat and rested well, it came out rare, tender, warm and juicy. The food is beautifully presented and masterfully prepared. Andrea was also a very good waitress and recommended me a lovely drink made from crushed strawberries too. The price is higher than some places I can eat where I live in North London, but this is centrally based and the food is impeccable so please don't let that put you off!

“Very good food & gluten free menu”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

We have been to Cantina Laredo a few times and will definitely return. The food is very good and they even have a separate gluten free menu containing several good choices for my husband, who is on a gluten free diet.

“Simply Stunning!!!”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

The general view towards Mexican food in Britain has not been a positive one over the years with tex-mex chains like Chiquittos churning out awful imitations of Mexican food but the gap between Cantina Laredo and the rest of these chains is about as far as the Gap between Her Majesty The Queen and Katie Price.

I have now eaten at Cantina Laredo several times and can safely say that the food is 'simply stunning' and never disappoints. There is a plentiful array of choices to suit any palate and combined with it's healthy portions makes this one of the top restaurants in London for me (unlike any Ramsay 'restrunt' which will only throw at you one tasteless piece asparagus and an equally tasteless cube of chicken). There are some other ok Mexican restaurants in London such a Wahaca but i'm afraid they still pale in comparison when it comes to the quality of the food served, the drinks (Frozen Mango Margarita!!) and the service.

My personal favourites have to be the Top Shelf Guacamole, Pablona Asada and finally the brownie (out of this world sensational - best dessert i've ever eaten).

This is a must try restaurant. Seriously, you will not regret it!

“Part of a US Franchise and it shows.”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

I am surprised that the restaurant gets strong reviews, even though it is from a small sample. It is beyond belief that a Tex-Mex franchise should be rated so highly when serving standard easily reproducible food. It is an upmarket franchise, but still follows the basic pattern.

The positive 'amateur' reviews here differ widely from the professional reviews and apparently user reviews on other sites.

The food is formulaic and just like the American chain as you'd expect. It is consistent, but not brilliant. There are far more authentic Mexican restaurants in London. [Some of my family are Mexican so I have an interest in the many varieties of Mexican cuisine.]

There is a strong management presence and that detracts from the servers' own personalities.

The decor is antiseptic and the lighting strange. There are good Margarita drinks and other cocktails, but pricey.

The food is not especially good. There are some charming servers, but the overall atmosphere and decor is not good.

The price is too high and there are better options close much more imaginative and enjoyable.
