Description: Set in bustling Knightsbridge, the award-winning Bar Boulud, London is a French-inspired bistro and wine bar at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, under the direction of renowned Lyon-born chef Daniel Boulud, following the successful format of Bar Boulud New York. The full à la carte bistro menu, served Monday through Saturday and Sunday evenings, is based on seasonal, rustic French cooking, and includes an array of charcuterie, house-made terrines, pâtés, hams, saucissons, boudins and more, specially prepared onsite. Also featured are Boulud's popular American transplants, the "Yankee" and "Piggie" burgers, as well as signature "BB" Burger unique to London. A £17 two or £19 three course 'Bouchon Menu', changing weekly, is available until 7pm, inclusive of a glass of house wine, as an excellent option for pre-theatre dining. New to 2015, Bar Boulud now serves Sunday brunch from 11am to 3.30pm at £39, with Children's Menu options also available. Bar Boulud features an impressive selection of wines available by the glass and by the bottle with a focus on the Rhône and Burgundy regions, as well as a wide selection of draught and bottled beers from noteworthy English and Continental breweries. Serving great wine by the glass from rare, large-format bottles is a Bar Boulud trademark.

Friends of ours who eat out in central London regularly, and have always raved about this place invited us for lunch. They do not have to worry about what seemed to be a good 3 course deal, so we chose from the main menu.

They thought the food was excellent, but, frankly, we were far from mpressed.

We both started with soup. The butternut squash was described as "ok, but not as good as we make at home" and the fish soup was really disappointing. Little flavour, just two mussels, one small prawn, and a small square of fish, with a little veg. At £14 if we ever go again, we won't be having that dish.

Our hosts almost insisted we had the "best burgers they had ever had". We both chose the one with pulled pork and jalapeño Mayo. Neither was over evident. They were cooked ok, medium rare as asked, but we have certainly had much better.

No-one went for desserts, but coffee at £4.50 was probably as expensive as we have ever seen.

As expected, drinks were expensive, and service (with a 12 1/2% service charge) was really good.

Would probably go again, just to try the fixed pice menu, but would avoid otherwise.

Difficult to rate. 5 for service, no more for 3 for food, and 1 for value.

We have dined in a number of Daniel Boulud's places in New York, but this was the first time in London. We had the special offer 3-course meal which was extremely good value for money. A glass of bubbly was thrown in and I feared it would be something cheap and cheerful but it was quality cremant and full glasses too! The steak tartare was excellent, the plaice with roasted cauliflower very good, and the guava soufflé with raspberry sorbet to die for! An excellent inventive wine list at reasonable prices for the location and setting.

I was invited to dinner here and it was an excellent experience. Polished professional service; delicious food and energetic but not overly loud room. I will definitely return.

This could have received 5 points, but for one poor waiter. That said this was a lovely lunch venue.
Food was excellent , Steak Tartare was sensational and the burger beautifully cooked.
We were well looked after, the Head Waiter was very attentive, sadly one individual waiter was rather rude and lacking in the skills one would expect from an establishment of this quality.
On reflection I should have made more of this at the time and perhaps I shouldn’t use Trip Advisor to raise the issue. I do regret having not removed the service charge.
It’s a shame, this is a good restaurant overall and the food was of a very high quality.
