Superb on all fronts - location, surroundings, ambience, fantastic, friendly and welcoming service and the most delicious and generous afternoon tea. Lots of lovely touches. Definitely a cut above other afternoon tea experiences. Add a glass of fizz. Perfect way to spend the afternoon!

Whilst staying at Claridges, we had dinner and breakfasted in the Foyer restaurant. The menu is imaginative, the food is delicious and service is absolutely perfect.

For our daughters 16th birthday we had lunch at Claridges, for her 18th birthday afternoon tea, surely for her 21st an overnight stay is in order!!?? Here's hoping .... anyway afternoon tea was absolutely delicious, and of course served in beautiful surroundings by lovely staff. After our first round of sandwiches we were offered more - we could have the same again or just more of the ones we enjoyed the most. Then we had 2 scones each and again were offered more but we declined. Then it was the bit I was looking forward to the most - cakes!! 4 each - all delicious and of course we were offered more but even those of us with a sweet tooth had to say 'no thank you'! Shame. If you had any cakes left (which was not going to be the case with us) you could take them away with you. So to conclude I would thoroughly recommend Claridges for afternoon tea when in London!

It was busy on Saturday afternoon the cakes are superb. 3 of the finger sarnies had to go back as the bread was a tad dry. The staff are on point and precise. We booked so it wasn't an issue getting in but we witnessed quite a few being turned away. It was a treat, maybe we'll be back next year. To try something different. One small gripe we asked for a small jug of soya milk and it didn't make it to us... Good job we also like black tea too ..... It was busy ! The staff was working like swans... So graceful in the surface, yet under the water .......... Crazy !

Dear cjslaterhot77,

Thank you for taking the time to write and share your comments following your recent visit for afternoon tea.

I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your visit although I was sorry to read that you never received your soya milk for your tea and had to have some of your fingers sandwiches changed during the afternoon. The team are very well trained in the service of afternoon tea and I am very grateful to you for your comments regarding the 'on point and precise service' that they provided.

Please do contact me directly in advance of your next visit so I may personally assist you with your arrangements.

With kind regards,

After reading all the positive reviews, my group of five seasoned travellers booked a table for afternoon tea in the Foyer (3 pm session). The room was quite packed and we were seated near the kitchen. The table was suitable for 3-4 persons maximum. Contrary to the reviews, the service was not particularly friendly. The sandwiches and cakes were piled on the plate, not doing justice to the iconic Claridge's Chinaware. On the whole we felt like second-class customers compared to other guests who had beautifully-presented tiered cake stands. It was a disappointing experience for £54 per head!
