My husband surprised me on Christmas Day with the confirmation email for afternoon tea at Clardiges the only disappointment was that I had to wait until April 27th to go! We had a wonderful time. We went with another couple too to share the experience. We were seated straight away and we chose to have the champagne and sandwiches followed by tea and scones. There was plenty to eat and each sandwich was fresh and delicious as were the scones and cakes. I would recommend to anybody visiting London. We dressed in smart but you don't need to over dress. My husband wore smart jeans with a shirt and blazer and we wore nice trousers and heels and blazer. My own gripe was the waitress seemed agitated when my friend said the two tea's tasted different she said she would bring a fresh pot but seemed a little annoyed by doing this. She was French so it may have been just in her nature but that's how we felt. I look forward to coming back soon.

Had lovely lunch at Christmas. Some of my dining companions opted for the ox cheek and we thought the portions were embarrassingly small. It takes a bit of panache to carry that out!! However the others in our party had larger portions with the Sunday roast option, although these dishes were more expensive

No shortages of lovely bread and a delicious soup served between starters and main meal which was very tasty indeed

Elegant restaurant, old fashioned politeness - wonderful.

Will return

Went to my grandsons naming day where the Clarence room was booked for the private ceremony to be followed by afternoon tea.
Could not fault the service of all the staff, from meeting us in the foyer and personally taking us to our venue, via the "ladies" lift (with seats inside!!) , with full history about the Hotel and lifts en route. During our visit the staff were quietly polite and attentive, without being overpowering.
Afternoon tea was perfect as expected, delicious sandwiches and cakes to die for, all washed down with champagne and tea in china cups.
A lovely family afternoon out and before leaving, baby was given a gift of a Claridge's teddy bear.. Thank you

Meeting up with an old friend after many years meant we'd have loads to talk about, so we needed somewhere special yet comfortable to linger long after lunch. Claridge's seemed the ideal venue and we weren't disappointed. Everything about this iconic hotel lived up to its reputation. Service was wonderful - efficient yet friendly and unobtrusive. The set lunch menu at £35 per head for 3 courses is incredible value and had many delicious temptations even for my vegetarian companion. I particularly enjoyed the pan-fried salmon with mussels in a saffron and ginger sauce, and the deconstructed carrot cake surpassed any other carrot cake I've ever eaten. I was surprised that there were few diners (but perhaps the fact that it was Monday made it quieter), although it filled up later for afternoon tea.

In terms of the decor, what's not too like? The Art Deco era is suffused with glamour and decadence, and it was wonderful to experience a taste of this old-school luxury. Our table at the rear of the Reading Room was the ideal vantage point to survey our opulent surroundings.

The only potential negative was that when we were first seated at our table, the sound of a mobile phone ringing at an adjacent table was incredibly irritating. Fortunately, the culprit (who was only there for a coffee) left as I was about to ask a member of staff to request the phone to be silenced. I would have thought the hotel would have a policy about mobile phone use in public areas and act promptly to ensure the atmosphere was not cheapened by such intrusions.

I shall definitely dine here again. If you can exercise sufficient self-discipline, the set menu is an absolute bargain!

Have eaten lunch here before but never afternoon tea. What I have been missing is a wonderful ambience around afternoon tea. The sandwiches were all wonderful and a second plate provided for just the two of us. The cakes were also stunning and the special ganache birthday cake provided as our wonderful waiter asked whether we were celebrating was delicious. The scones were the lightest I have ever eaten and I love cream tea so have eaten a few. The only slight criticism re food would be that the tea was cool for the second cup and therefore the flavour was not as good as the first cup. Our waiter was very attentive and came from Holland.
