Taking into account the location I thought average was harsh. Great location near the centre of Liverpool. The room wasn't as nice as the one in the pictures but was still an above average standard with a nice bed and bathroom. Checking in/out was stress free and quick. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
The bad points were that the sheets weren't changed just turned inside out (could see my girlfriend's foundation on the inside when we got back), didn't change the towels which was a bit of a let down. Woke up at 3am gasping for a drink but the tap only ran lukewarm. Few minor points are, shower was okay once you got the temp right but spent about 5 mins trying to get it right. Tad dramatic but a pet hate of mine. Overall a good stay, would have been very good if not for the lack of fresh towels and bedding.

We stayed here for two nights in early March and would be happy to stay again. Room only - they offer no breakfast but that suits me and I prefer to eat later in the morning so I'm happy with a couple of coffee's, which were provided in the room. The hotel is situated very centrally and on one of the 6 original streets of Liverpool. The weather was very cold when we went and we were disappointed the radiator hadn't been turned on for our arrival but hey, we turned it on ourselves and the room soon warmed up. Great split level room with a huge comfy bed and lovely linen - we both slept very well but that was probably assisted by the alcohol we'd consumed, as next door is a bar playing very loud music and the bass is very loud in this hotel, although it's worth pointing out this is only for a few hours later at night, not all the time. Large bathroom and good shower apart from the water not draining away and so it overflows onto the bathroom floor. I did bring this to the attention of housekeeping but got the impression they probably already knew about it but couldn't fix it........ I liked our room and it had lots more character than the chain hotels we usually stay in but it was a little dark. There was a large ornate mirror stood on the floor and leant against one wall - this had once been secured to the wall behind but the rawplug had come out and so the mirror is now free standing - this needs securing for safety purposes.

First time to review a hotel without visiting, but couldn't believe the cheek! Was given a voucher for Christmas specifically for this hotel. Called to arrange a Friday evening(as the voucher was valid Sunday to Friday all year round), they confirmed plenty of availability on that date. Confirmed we had a voucher only to be told that they don't accept vouchers Friday - Sunday. I explained that the voucher confirmed it was valid for Fridays but they were not bothered. Called buy a gift straight after to explain the problem and they said this was in breach of the voucher conditions and they called the hotel to resolve the problem. When they called, the receptionist then said they had no availability on the date requested, despite this being immediately after my call! Disgusting customer service. If you don't want to accept vouchers don't sign an agreement with buy a gift. Very sly - AVOID!

Not a good start to arrivie at a hotel to be told that you are the only guests who have not been relocated and the top floors of the building are closed for urgent maintenance works about which 'we are unable to give you any information'. Then to be told that the only two rooms available are on the first floor but not to worry the live music next door would finish by 1am on Friday and Saturday - did not add that it would be Thursday as well. The rooms were spacious with comfy bed and nice linen and the bathrooms were clean but the 'chocolates' on the pillow turned out to be earplugs (see above), the floor was dirty, cupboard/drawer space minimal, furniture depressing. No plug in the bath, no hair dryer, no remote control for the tv, poor internet, only one pillow in one room and the shower only worked if you stood on the WC and leant over the shower screen to turn on a control....

Room Tip: Apparently no choice on our trip but avoid first floor - and probably second as well
