We visited here in february. We were exploring Liverpool and Manchester, both of which we'd never been to before. So we wanted to pack in as much as possible!

We loved it here. The architecture of the place is amazing. For that alone it's worth a visit. It's absolutely massive and we spent a good hour exploring.

There is so much here that if you lived local and could borrow books, you could find everything you want!

The children's area was great. Bigger than my whole local library! My son loved it and looked at lots of books. There was a stage and seating area so I expect they have events in holiday time.

There was an old fashioned bit which you had to be very quiet in. I think it was a read only bit. I had a good look around, it was beautiful. Dark woods and old books and if you're like me you could spend hours there!

Also a little Harry Potter based bit - another win!

So glad we visited and will definitely be back.

Thank Kathgirl

It's quite a modern facade but on the first floor they have restored, to its original splendour the Reading room. You only need to spend half an hour there but it is well worth the detour.

Beautiful building - great mix of old and new. Went up to the rooftop for a great view of the city. Was going to stay for coffee but café was a little disappointing.

This library is next door to the world Museum. A superb building full of information, computers and very helpful staff. The reading room is a round room styled of the 1940s and is well worth a visit, it takes you right back in time.
