“You Get What You Pay For”
Reviewed 16 January 2012

Stayed here when attending a function in Chapel Street. Just about convenient for Liverpool One but needed a taxi to get to evening destination. Agree with other reviewers that more of a Motel than a Hotel and the rooms are in need of modernisation as bits were missing here and there. But it all worked.

Could not fault the staff though who were very helpful. The lady on reception Saturday evening (14/1/12 ) deserves a mention as she was exceptional helping ourselves and other guests to get taxis promptly. Pity I didn't get her name.
I suppose its best summed up by "cheap and cheerful with a free car park". Can't see the point in paying for luxury if all you want is a bed for the night.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the Mersey.

Stayed here for work, it's a bit tired and certainly basic - but had no problems during the stay. My room was ground floor looking onto the carpark and windows didn't look like they'd be hard to break into, but as said no problems at all - feels more like a motel than a hotel. Didn't go to breakfast so can't comment and as booked through work can't comment on value. Wouldn't necessarily be the best location if you were visiting Liverpool for a weekend, a walk along the dual carriageway, but certainly convenient for conferences at the convention centre. Essentially, the definition of average, no surprises (good or bad).

Went for a night out in Liverpool next week so looked for a central cheap hotel. The clincher was the fact that the Campanile has its own free car park, something most other city centre hotels don't have. Just a short taxi ride to the action and very warm and cosy room, bathroom a bit basic but the shower was hot and strong. Our breakfast was cooked to order, none of this cold buffet rubbish and was very tasty. Will be hotel of choice when visiting Liverpool.

Was in Liverpool for a football match and the travel agent arranged this hotel for us. Fair enough, you can't get your expectations too high if you look at the rates. I've stayed in basic/budget hotels which are decent but this certainly comes to me as below average

Plus points:-
1) Location is good. Within 8-10 minutes walking distance to the docks, with many restaurants and pubs. City Centre is a good 15 minutes walk away.
2) For the budget-conscious with free car park.
3) A small casino located next to the hotel (now, I won't really know whether that's a plus point)

Minus points:-
1) No lifts - if you've got big luggage, that's a problem if your room is on the top floor.
2) Main entrance door to the rooms sometimes do not shut well or all the time (now that's a security risk)
3) Rooms are the most basic and looks very dated. Bedsheets were clean enough but the floor and toilet bowl/sink had some stains. It reminded me of my stay at the university hostel 20 years ago!
4) Breakfast is provided but is relatively poor in quality. Waitress at the restaurant seems to be very hassled and unenthusiastic.
5) Very poor sound insulation. You could hear people walking down the corridor or even talking in their rooms. I opened my door upon hearing a knock, which actually was for the room next to mine.
6) This is certainly NOT the place to have a romantic stay with your partner, for the above reasons.

Even if its for the budget-conscious, it does not necessarily mean that we have to put up with such dismal conditions?! Try other hotels unless what's most important to you is the price itself.

Stayed Here Last Weekend
It is a Budget hotel but not that cheap. The Parking was Very Good and the walk to City Centre was about !5 Minutes away. There is a Superb Greek Restaurant about Five minutes walk away in York Street. You Have to go there. The Food and Entertainment were fantastic.
It Costs under a fiver to Mathew Street Where all the Clubs and pubs are.
Getting back to the Hotel though, The Check in was quick and very friendly, The room was clean and had extra Pillows if required. There was Tea and coffee available and to obtain more you only had to ask at Reception. The Bar was Ok with a Real Fire in the middle. The Breakfast was Extra but to be honest was worth the money. You had a choice of Continental or full English. I chose the Full English and it was served quickly and Very Tasty. There was a Coffee machine where you could help yourself and the choice of Coffees was Very Good,
I would be Quite Happy to come back here anytime I am in Liverpool

Room Tip: I Had a Room which overlooked The Dock and was very quiet and secure
