Just had to write to say how fantastic this hotel was. They upgraded us to a plush room, even though I booked a comfy one through lastminute.com, as it was my mum's birthday. The hotel is in a great location, and the rooms are at a great price! The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and warm and we had a balcony! Only negatives would be the fan in the bathroom not working, and the hairdryer being a bit tempermental - but these were minor. We had a fantastic stay, and will recommend this hotel to everyone!

Stayed at the Heywood House hotel in Feb2012. Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they found a phone charger for us as my husband had forgotten his and stored our luggage for us on our day of departure. They provided us with bus and rail timetables and advice on what to see and do. There was always a bit of a chat as we went past reception. The room was lovely, oddly shaped but lovely with lovely thick robes and the bathroom was very clean with all toiletries you needed provided. Tea and coffee provisions were ample with some nice biccies thrown in too. Very convienient for the Cavern Quarter and all travel points and beside the liverpool one centre for all shoppers. Have no complaints at all about this hotel and we will be back in the future.

stayed at this hotel for one night on a voucher bought from KGB. After looking on the website of the advertied "plus rooms" with a "stand alone bath" i ordered an upgrade costing me £30.

Arrived at the hotel and was greeted with a room the size of a postage stamp and no freestanding bath...........................looked in the bathroom and there was the bath,.................so basically i had paid £30 upgrade to have a bath in a bathroom!!!!!!!

Rang reception and requested to move rooms as i wasnt happy with what i had paid, and also advised that the free bottle of wine included with the deal if i could possibly swap it for white or rose!!.................i was then told that they didnt have any other wines left and i had to make do!!

Second room was much better except for the fact WE HAD NO HOT WATER ALL EVENING. reported this problem to the lady on reception and we were told "the maintenece men had left for the evening now and she could move us to another room again ..................... this was the final straw!!!! we had been promised a follow up call advising us what she could do to sort the situation...............we didnt recieve a follow up call!!!!

The next morning we spoke to the "assistant manager",.................really rude and was not interested in the fact that we had a shocking experience in the hotel, quite aggressive in her tone when we reported the problems and was met with a respone of " WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST I DO ABOUT IT THEN?...........I MEAN WHAT WOULD YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT?!"

She fobbed us off sayin we had to contact KGB to complain, but by this point we had enough and just wanted to leave!!

i would reccommend this hotel to anyone, with so many cheap hotel deals on various websites i would reccommend choosing another place to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A hotel that lives up to its billing - a cut above budget, but still for a reasonable price. A not very impressive entrance next to a slightly dodgy looking pub did not bode well, but once inside the hotel, this is forgiven. The room was good, although their was a distinct lack of the ipod speaker dock promised. Whilst it was rather a strange shape, the room was reasonably large and the en-suite very good (although not quite as clean as it could have been). Coffee and tea facilities were adequate, although the provision of a fridge and fresh milk would have lifted it into 5* rating. The bar and restaurant were excellent - the continental breakfast was one of the best I've had and dinner was fab (especially as it was half price for those staying in the hotel).

Thank you for your review. We are glad that you found the expense of the hotel suitable for you. We regret to hear that you didn’t find the outside of the Hotel very impressive but it is a listed building since 1799, therefore we are not able to do anything with the front area of the hotel. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your meals in the Noble House Restaurant next door and found the discount for it extra special. We do hope that one day you will stay with us again.

This was a really reasonably priced hotel in a good location. Lovely decor but the air con was so noisy, even though we didn't have it on! We had to move rooms in the middle of the night as I couldn't sleep for the noise. It wasn't constant, it kept pausing and we hoped it would eventually stop but it didn't so the night porter agreed to move us to the room next door (which I think was actually a Plush room, instead of our former Comfy Room). I couldn't see a great deal of difference to justify the price difference - bathrobes, 2 bottles of water, and a nicer duvet - but we were just happy for the peace and quiet!

I would stay here again but would ask for a quieter room and, if I experienced the noise again, ask to change a bit sooner!

Room Tip: Beware the aircon!

Thank you for your review. We are glad that you will consider returning here and found that we are located in a good location. If there is interference in the room we will try our best to rectify the problem but if it is not possible we will locate the guest to a different room if there is one available. The price difference between a Comfy room and Plush room is only £20 therefore, this involves bathrobes, water, extra toiletries and a bath as well as a shower. We do apologise for the disturbance of your stay but we hope it was an overall enjoyable experience.
