Having braved the snow on the other side of the Pennines for a mini break in Liverpool we found Lunya after doing a bit of research on the internet. We were recommended to choose 4 or 5 tapas dishes each. We picked 5 and said we would order more if we were still hungry but found that this was sufficient. We really enjoyed what we were served and the waitress was very pleasant and helpful. We thought the tapas were good but rather expensive for the portion size and together with a bottle of red wine the bill was quite a hefty one.

Hello readers,

My wife and I visited this establishment as we were watching a show in the city. Coincidentally we had just returned from Granada where with every single alcoholic drink (one or two euros at most) purchased one can expect tapas free of charge, and tapas of the finest quality. Now I’m not a simpleton and don’t expect to be in a city in Britain and get free food, nor do I expect to get very cheap food but good value yes I do!! Now I don’t believe that the Spanish are famous for being highway men and robbery and the such like......but somewhere across the channel crossing the owners of this establishment have either got the exchange rate wrong or they have become greedy because the two of us bought one (uno) bottle of wine and (cinco) five tapas and one (uno) portion of bread (in fact to be fair we had to order a cheese platter due to hunger) and this came to the princely sum of £95+.......and we ended up eating crisp In a pub next door (still hungry)......I kid you not.....we ordered ‘anchovies’.....they came (all five fillets), the salted kind out of a tin (about 70pence from a supermarket)...and this was £8.

Other points to note:

80’s pop music
Lack of ambience
Great staff and superb service
Nice deli counter
Food taste good

I have just been to Lunya in its new, larger, setting a short walk from the original site. The restaurant is lovely and bright with a great atmosphere. There is an extensive range of food and wines and they have some early doors offers. The tapas are tasty but a bit small. Overall a nice place to eat.

We choose to take breakfast here as it was opposite our hotel. Some great options and variations on the usual full english but done with a Catalan twist. We chose the baked eggs in tomato and Spanish sausage which was delicious.Service wasnt the fastest but done well. Well worth a visit for something a little bit different start the trip.
