Owner description: Completed in 1978 this is the largest Anglican cathedral in Europe. Inside, the lack of adornments only adds to vastness of the "great space." A combination of elevator and stairs takes visitors to the exterior heights of the tower and some grand views of the city and landscapes below. A small fee is required for the vista experience.

A truly remarkable cathedral. Spent over 2 hours in there.
However, did NOT like Tracy Emin's pink sign sited beneath
beautiful stained glass windows.

This building gives the impression of being much older than it actually is, and can rival anything from the Middle Ages in terms of it's imposing silhouette towering over the city. The view from the top of the tower is unrivalled, but the climb to the top after the elevators finish, is not for the faint-hearted. Those who can make the climb are treated to views stretching far out to the mountains of North Wales in one direction, and the Lancashire coastline in another. At twilight, the view is simply stunning, as the city lights compete with the dimming sun to illuminate The Pool of Life! As a Scouser, I am proud of our heritage, and this place fills me with awe every time I step inside it.
