Generations of Leicester folk have used this as a meeting point. Sadly the area around it (Belgrave Gate) is a bit run down with lots of Pound shop try shops/rough sleepers. However not far to the Shires or whatever they call the big shoppig centre this week.

Recognisable local landmark and meeting place - all roads lead to it. As well as serving this useful purpose it seems increasingly to attract people selling God, timeshares, charitable sign ups etc and as such a place to be navigated past carefully, in addition to the standard large crowds of youths during school holidays.

it is where you're likely to agree to meet someone in Leicester but at the same time you might encounter some less agreeable types. Interesting history but not much about it on site.

One of the most attractive places in Leicester, it is in the city centre, excellent for out door activities with family and friends. very good location for shops and visitors.

Visited for the day yesterday.
I’d read lots on the tourist information website, and looked forward to visiting.
The clock is decorated with pretty red Chinese lanterns, at present, but generally we didn’t really enjoy the visit.
Found it difficult to navigate around initially, didn’t see many street signs to find locations we wanted to see.
I was sadly shocked and disappointed by the amount of street drinkers and rough sleepers in and around the centre and
Noticed with interest, the signs advising people that their drinks could be taken from them, but it didn’t seem to deter them.
A sign of the times maybe, but it’s very off putting.

Thank clare c
