Wonderful trip to a beautiful building and environs. Richard iii's grave is an extraordinary experience and the stained glass windows are very evocative.

A couple of friends came down from near York for the weekend in February.. On the Saturday, we took them into Leicester city centre to visit the cathedral and the memorial to Richard The Third, who, some say, really should have been reinterred in York. There is no doubting the beauty of the stone from which the memorial is made but, quite frankly, there is little else to see. The cathedral itself is little more than a larger than average parish church with no fixed pews currently. On the plus side, there is no entrance fee, the volunteer staff are very helpful and there are plenty of preserved headstones to read. You would need to be extremely interested in Richard to consider this a must-see building. Our guests are regular visitors to York Minster and, quite understandably, our cathedral does not bear comparison to the splendour of that building. Best, I think, to consider Leicester Cathedral as a place that should be considered as a place for worship, not a tourist attraction.

Took the grandchildren to see the moon exhibit at the Cathedral. They really enjoyed it. Shame it had to leave for Australia. It was enjoyed not only by the children but adults alike.
Only let down was, it would have appeared better if illuminated from within.

Visited Leicester and the cathedral, it’s the most depressing place I have ever been there is homeless people all over the city you can not walk through the town without being asked for money by aggressive beggars, I would not ever think of visiting here again worst short break holiday ever.

It’s a real shame there is so many homeless people in Leicester, spoiling the city for visitors.

I have lived in Leicester for many years and have been to the Cathedral a number of times. It has improved considerably since the Richard III find and is a lovely place to spend 20 minutes or so. Usually people there who are happy to provide background information. Very close to the Park & Ride, too!
