An absorbing couple of hours looking at the exhibition learning about the amazing story of the discovery of Richards skeleton in Leicester together with the background of the Wars of the Roses.

Found this tour absolutely excellent. Our guide Virginia was very knowledgeable about everything related to King Richard 3rd. We learned a great deal and would not have been able to find the various sites of historical interest on our own. Also impressed with the fact that the walk still went ahead although only my wife and I on the day. The walk lasts about 2 hours and is one of the best ways of spending 2 hours in Leicester if you want to find out more about King Richard 3rd. Would highly recommend.

Myself and friends had a guided tour of the King Richard site and area with CAROLINE ROBERTS she was excellent and brought everything to life, we didn't want the tour to end and would strongly recommend her to anyone who appreciates a good guide!

The first few minutes refers to links to Richard III, after that it's just local history. If you want to walk in Richard's footsteps, go to York.

I joined this tour mainly due to my interest in Richard III and the places mentioned on the TV documentary. However I was most pleasantly surprise that I found the information given by our guide about Leicester very interesting (the meaning Highcross with the stone cross on the street , the special slate roof on some of the old buildings, the origin of beautiful lampposts found in the oldest part of Leicester, St. Mary de Castro , etc). I would certainly visit Leicester again to go to the beautiful old Newarke area.

This tour starts in front of the Leicester cathedral and is of one and a half hour duration. If you arrive early , you can pop in to the Guildhall nearby where there is a free exhibition of Richard III and the excavation. Unfortunately, you cannot buy tickets for the tour at the Guildhall which would have been so convenient. One has to buy tickets from the Tourist Information Office or order it by telephone.
