“Perfection in the country”
Reviewed 17 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We booked the barn for two nights as we were attending an event at the Athena in Leicester, as my daughter was a finalist in Miss Great Britain.
We where looking for something quiet and select and what could be better than this beautiful barn.

Myra was a fantastic, genuine host, who couldn't do enough for us and her little dog was gorgeous, my son adored him.

The barn has been sympathetically renovated, with luxurious touches, including quality luxury bedding, magnificent antiques and glorious wooden beams.
It had everything you could wish for in a self catering property, set in a country environment. The cottage garden was a haven of relaxation, with just the sound of the birds.

There is a local pub, The Bell, literally a couple of minutes walk past the barn were we had lunch and dinner. Highly recommended, very friendly lady served us, i think her name was Megan, she was brilliant, made us feel welcome. The food was traditional English, home cooked, made with fresh local ingredients, we had the Cod goujons and beef sandwiches, yummy and for our evening meal, the chicken breast in Tarragon and mushroom sauce, with mash and an abundance of fresh vegetables, my husband had the Green Thai Curry, the best he has eaten.

A visit to Market Harborough is a must, with it's quaint little shops, cafes and the famous Old Grammar School, a small timber building dating from 1614 and just outside this market town is Foxton Locks, another enjoyable day out, where you can have a drink and watch the canal boats passing by.

A fantastic two days, spent in a glorious five star barn, couldn't ask for better, see you again Myra and will send you the photos of the Miss GB final.

A beautiful, private and relaxing accommodation. Very friendly hosts.

A truly beautifully renovated property. The owners Larry and Myra are so thoughtful and did everything they could to ensure our stay was perfect. Won't hesitate to recommend to friends and family. We are very lucky to have found such a lovely place to stay and will most certainly be back!

“A simply outstanding place to stay - a very special piece of England”

The Barn in the Garden is a wonderfully restored piece of old England, tucked behind an also wonderful cottage in the charming little village of Burton Overy. The garden is the epitome of an English country garden - quite idyllic. The actual barn is really something special, and if you like to the look of it from the photos, you will definitely not be disappointed when you arrive. The couple who run this accommodation have done an amazing job, and the service when you are staying is in line with that.

We have stayed at other places where the hospitality was disappointing, or frankly 'odd'. Not so here - frankly, this little gem and the couple who run it are a real find. If one is looking for a true English country experience, with true English country hospitality, I cannot think of a better property, or a better location. Simply superb !
