Real ales, a real fire, a range of malt whiskies and proper floorboards! Music is only in the background and there is plenty of room to sit comfortably to enjoy a relaxing pint or more.
Very close to the towe and the main drag, just across from Bonny Street market. If you want an enjoyable break from the turmoil and bustle then this is the venue to try.
Treat it as a pub not a restaurant, though it does do food.

We visit Blackpool every year, and we were both always great fans of this place. However not for the first time we have concerns over this place going down hill. The main issue apart from the fact that it needs a good refurb (particularity the toilets) is real quality. We returned one beer that was off and the other beers were not of the quality that real ale should be, and certainly nothing like the quality they used to be.Try Albert's Ale micro as a better choice.

Great to find a pub like this in Blackpool.
Relaxed, great staff, clearly a real ale bar but still a good range of other beers, friendly punters and the odd mutt wandering around on a crisp hunt. What more could you want out of a bar.

The pump and truncheon was recommended as best pub friendly pub in Blackpool. Can't say if it is as we only found one other but this one was our favourite. Don't be put off by the outside appearance - it is warm and welcoming inside. A little quirky perhaps but glad we visited. Unfortunately it doesn't do food as such. The barman did offer a choice of pizzas but we decided to try elsewhere for lunch. A mistake as we failed to find anywhere we could take our dog and it was a cold drizzly day so eating outside had little appeal, even though in the end we had no option.
