“Good when in town.”

Always good and eating in is quick and inexpensive. Try it when in the area but don't go especially.

“The Godfather of Blackpool fish & chips”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

There are many fish and chip restaurants and takeaways in Blackpool, But Yorkshire Fisheries on Topping street stands out as the best. This small unassuming fish and chip shop, which is a few minute's walk from North pier have perfected the fish fryer's art.
The menu contains not only the standard items like haddock and cod, but unusual items such as tuna and swordfish, the prices are slightly above average but are good value for the quality you receive.
I visited with my wife on Good Friday, we had a few minutes wait as there was no tables available, it was very busy, but soon we were seated and decided to order the cod specials, £5.95 got us Cod, chips and peas (I don't like mushy peas, so was offered beans or curry at no extra cost), tea or coffee and bread and butter.
The wait for the food was slightly long, but it was being cooked to order and they were very busy at the time.
Now what can I say about the food, firstly proper chips not frozen and prepared in a factory somewhere which is becoming a trend in Blackpool, these were Chunky golden brown crispy chips with beautiful soft floury potato inside, chips do not get any better than this.
Now the fish, Yorkshire fisheries offer you a choice of regular batter, lightly battered or even just steamed. Our cod was in regular batter and it was the best battered cod either of us had tasted, the batter was crisp and golden and just melted in your mouth, the fish itself was a nice thick piece, not some thin fillet, it was cooked perfectly, it hadn't been overcooked. My wife is still raving several days on about the quality of the mushy peas.
They have been on Topping Street for over 100 years, Why because the food is amazing.

“Great dine in chippy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

We tried here after looking at the reviews on trip advisor and sooo glad we did. Great friendly, helpful service. Cheap options for the children. Great menu for the adults, and loads of specials and offers. I had cod and chips, best I've had in years. Very crispy batter, fresh fish and cracking chips. Would recommend
