We had our daughters wedding at the cragwood on the 19th may and it was great, the staff are fantastic, nothing was too much bother for them, the food is excellent; fault less.
The only problem was the day went far to quickly but then no-one can halt time. If you are thinking of going do not hesitate, thanks too you all. Steven & Karen Dawson

Room Tip: lake side room for the best view

We stayed at the Cragwood for a weekend break as part of my 50th birthday celebrations. Having cancelled a cruise earlier in the month due to unforeseen circumstances, we needed to book a short break as an alternative. We couldn't have chosen anywhere better and only wish we could have stayed for longer. We were given a superb lake view room which had breathtaking views up and down Windermere, which was a brilliant way to wake up each morning.

Whilst the rest of the UK was experiencing the wettest April in over 100 years, we were lucky enough to have blue sky and sunshine - which I think is probably the best timed visit to the Lake District ever! The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service provided by all the staff was attentive and friendly. Andrew was kind enough to bring out my desert with a candle (fortunately not all 50!!), and it was touches like this that made the weeken special.

The hotel is in a brilliant location between Ambleside and Windermere/Bowness, and it is so peaceful and relaxing. You can stroll down to the lakeside and dip your toes in the water, followed by a drink in the bar/lounges overlooking the lake. Perfect! The atmosphere is informal, with a relaxed ambience and the feeling that you are in a real Lake District country house. We shall definitely be returning. It is excellent value for money and we couldn't have asked for anything more.

We had a family party at the Cragwood Hotel on the 29th April for 25 adults and 7 children from ages 7months to 8 years. The hotel could not have been more helpful from the initial contact with Richard arranging special needs for some of the adults to the children's menu.

On the day the meal was of high quality enjoyed by everyone , the comfort of the surrounding with 3 rooms at our disposal, a lounge bar, dining area and a very comfortable lounge which all made the day very relaxing as the weather was awful, on a fine day the hotel has magnificent views and wonderful gardens to enjoy.

The staff could not have been more helpful and attentive throughout, making our celebration day even more special.

Some of our party stayed over and were equally impressed with the hotel and staff.

Popped in last week with 6 family members (aged 3 to 70) for a quick light lunch. As usual the service was brilliant - friendly and efficient so we felt perfectly relaxed. Good quality food that always manages to be even nicer than you anticipate from the menu. Family keen to see the place we had raved about after two successful holidays there in April this year and last and that we have booked again for next year. For location, accommodation, food and service I can think of nowhere else I'd rather be!

Room Tip: The old part of the hotel is lovely. Both years we have had dual aspect rooms with views over the Lake.
