We stayed one night at The Glenburn Hotel, we didn't eat evening meal so cant comment on this.

I have to say i expected more for the price we payed, i have stayed in places much cheaper at the same standard as this hotel and i think if the price had been cheaper it would have been ok.

The location is handy, staff seemed ok also.

The room was a good size, as was the bathroom and it was decorated nicely throughout the hotel but there were quite a few "little things" that needed to be improved:

- The toilet didn't flush properly
- There was nowhere in the shower to put shampoo etc, a little shelf would be useful.
- Cheap bathroom toiletries, Who uses shower caps these days??
- I would have expected some bottled water and maybe some fruit or something in the room
- We woke early and couldn't access the lounge so had to either sit in our room or go for a walk
- The breakfast wasn't great with approx one sliced mushroom, cheap beans and just 1 of everything else
- TV reception was poor and kept cutting out
- Wifi is not accessible in the bedroom
- Not enough parking and what there was is very tight, we didnt get a space, although parked on the road fine

This is what we would expect of a cheaper hotel, i think the prices that are charged means they should go that little bit further with things.

Tried to book at the last minute for the August bank holiday weekend having checked the rates on the website. Was told first of all that bank Holidays were always more expensive but when I said that the rates for each day were on their website I was told that the web programmer had made a mistake and that the three night stay would cost £92 more than advertised on line, although they would offer a discount of £30 to compensate - this still made it £62 dearer than the advertised rate and more expensive than a 4 star hotel! Needless to say we did not book and are now looking for a hotel with better ehtics!

The welcome as we entered was good - but unfortunately went down hill from there.
We knew what to expect from the room as they were all decorated differently and you could choose your room to stay in - but what it doesnt say is how thin the walls are, and ceilings and doors!
let your imagination loose - as we heard bumps and grinds and ablutions for most of the night.
At one point hd to wait 15 mins to get hot water?
Music was loud coming from who knows where - thats with the windows shut - although we needed them open - very hot rooms.

soory never ate hear except for breakfast - which was slow but adequate.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The service was excellent-very friendly and welcoming.
The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities we required. As well as breakfast we had dinner in the restaurant each night of our stay and thoroughly enjoyed all our food which was good quality and well cooked. In a good position for access to Windermere and Boness. We certainly hope to return.

Booked because of the reviews on Trip Advisor, rang up to make the booking as per previous review and booked room 8 as it looked the nicest of the Deluxe rooms. The receptionist got a little confused at times but was very helpful.

We arrived a little early and allowed us to check in but wouldn't let us have our room key which was no problem it gave us time to stretch our legs and go explore. Checked into our room and was given room 18 (although booked room 8) which is at the front at the top of the stairs, has recently been updated, very clean but if you get a room at the front there is alot of road noise if you have the window open.

We only ate breakfast which was fantastic, very good service, excellent food and choice, the dining room needs a quick decorate on the ceiling (if you want to be nitpicky).

During our stay we had a walk upto Windermere which to be honest wasn't alot to see and only had 1 pub which was a bit outdated, had a drink in the social club close to the hotel and they were very friendly. Bowness was lovely (1 1/4 miles from hotel) and alot more there, and obviously the Lake, we had fish and chips at Mr Vinegars(think it was called that) but it is very expensive and greasy. A rowing or motor boat on the lake is a must if the weather is nice, then an icecream at the 64 different flavours shop.

All in all a pleasant stay but would stay a little closer to Bowness next time
