Absolutely gorgeous spa lodge! This was our third trip to the Gilpin and it was fantastic from start to finish. From arrival the staff are wonderful, drinks and food are delicious, attention to detail perfect. Spa lodge is immaculate with everything you could wish for. Would highly recommend.

Arrived Friday about 5.30 after a really busy stressful week & was welcomed in such a lovely manner. Dubious about going to the hotel initially but got to say all reservations disappeared straight away. The decor is beautiful, we normally like a more contemporary style but the traditional but not over fussy ambiance was relaxing, comfy and so tasteful. Our room was lovely, super comfy bed & fluffy towels. Shower a little dated but did the job. Could have done with bath salts - but that’s being picky.
On the Friday night we dined at Spice. Totally fantastic !!! So much so, that although we had a reservation for the Michelin star restaurant on the Saturday night, we chose to go back to Spice. Not enjoyed a meal that much in a while. Everything was perfect.
The staff are lovely, friendly, attentive and efficient and although we don’t know the names (sorry) the lady with the short dark hair with the poorly foot, the Romanian gentleman behind the bar and the lovely man who seemed to be in charge at Spice - were all exceptional.
We left the hotel, relaxed (a little hungover) and wanting to go back. Definitely recommend. We know the Lakes well and stay regularly - we will definitely revisit.
Thanks also to Mr & Mrs R. Never met people like you, interesting, different and definitely entertaining.

Location, gardens, afternoon tea, service all exceptional. Calm and relaxing place to meet a friend or treat the family. Food good. Ample parking. Well worth a visit for either afternoon tea of the curry restaurant (Spice).

We celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary at Gilpin Lake House on 9th September and were blown away by the location, grounds beautiful room and the professional and friendly staff. We loved the hot tub overlooking the lake and spent time in the boat house. We ate at Gilpin Spice and food was so good. Thank you Derek for being our chauffeur for the evening and thank you Thomas and Adele for being perfect hosts.

We have stayed at The Gilpin on several occasions & we were looking for a last minute night away as we wanted to book the Cumbrian Afternoon Tea here. The Hotel were already fully booked, which is no surprise as it is incredibly popular, therefore we stayed somewhere local to The Gilpin & booked in with them for their Afternoon Tea. Upon arrival we received the usual warm & friendly welcome from Reception & also the guys who looked after us during our visit - the staff are so engaging, it always adds to our experience at the Hotel. Although we arrived a full hour earlier than our reservation time we were accommodated straight away. We opted for the Champagne Afternoon Tea & it was exceptional - hands down the best Afternoon Tea we have ever had. After we'd finished we lingered in the bar to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine as we really didn't want to leave. We can highly recommend the Cumbrian Afternoon Tea - it was a great pre-birthday treat for me &, as always, we were made to feel special, which is exactly what you want when you're celebrating. We genuinely feel that the consistently wonderful service & quiet determination to ensure that every guest has the best possible time on each & every visit is truly at the heart of what The Gilpin is all about.
