Skiddaw House, has all the above and more. Hosted by the lovely couple Suzy and Martin, you immediately feel at home in this isolated and rustic location.
Skiddaw House is only accessible on foot / mountain bike, with a steady up hill 3.5 mile hike from the nearby village of Threlkeld. The hike up is totally worthwhile, with the views along the way totally breathtaking.
Don’t pack too much kit in your bags, as Skiddaw Lodge has an on-site shop/bar where you can buy all the refreshments you desire, from local beers to DIY breakfast, lunch and dinner (all very affordable). You can also hire towels (£1.50) and get complimentary Crocs for use whilst on site.
The lounge and kitchen areas are kept snug and warm with the coal and log fires. Upstairs, the bedrooms are sufficiently equipped with blankets, duvets, pillows, extra blankets and hot water bottles!
If you're looking for a secluded location and breathtaking views, you've come to the right place. But please don't tell everyone as this needs to be kept a secret for as long as possible so we can all enjoy it for years to come.More
