Kendal is not an easy place to visit as car parking is difficult and the roads are like an invitation to a maze. So this hotel is beneficial to all those who do not want to walk too far. However that does mean having to pay to park near the hotel supposing you can find a place. You can stop by the entrance to unload but do not leave your car there.

Rooms as expected, there is a lift, and the staff are pleasant and helpful. The surroundings are quiet; a short walk will find you in the town centre.

The restaurant is a Table Table which does not have the choices I look for in my favourite Beefeaters. It also, so we were told, has separate management from the hotel. Staff were under pressure which may explain the problems we witnessed. I would not normally choose a TT restaurant so it would be unfair for me to comment on the food except that we managed to eat it. Our overall impression was that it needed major changes.

Room tip: Near the lift

I have visited this hotel several times during the year for business and always receive a very friendly welcome in reception and a great service from the staff in the restaurant , it is always a pleasure to stay. The location is great for the Lakes, Lancaster & Barrow.

The hotel was ok. The location too seemed quite good, on the road out to the Lakes and just on the edge of the town centre. Parking, however, is limited (and £2 for 12 hours) but with a disabled wife, the staff were thoughtful enough to let us know before we arrived. The worst that happened was having to park at the hotel entrance, take my wife in her wheelchair into reception and park round the back of the hotel. The biggest let down was getting back to the hotel from a day out. The traffic system dictates you cannot turn right to the hotel but have to drive past it and go round the outskirts of the town in a circle to rejoin the original road going back towards the hotel and then turn left. The road system is busy and it can take almost 15 mins rather than under 60 seconds if you could turn right!

Great hotel however the breakfast is really bad just go to weather spoons down the road for breakfast. The rooms and staff are fantastic and the hotel is located near to the city centre. The hotel is clean and tidy but the car park gets full quickly.

On a short break we stayed overnight in this hotel. Staff were pleasant, efficient and informative. The room was spotlessly clean as was the bed, bathroom, etc. We had our evening meal & breakfast in the morning next door in the 'Table Table' restaurant. Again we received excellent service from pleasant and efficient staff. (Vegetarian menu could be improved on though). Will definately go back! Guests should note that overnight parking cost £5.00. No big deal for safe & secure parking in centre of town. Recommended!
