“Excellent cottage with modern amenities and great location”
Reviewed 15 July 2018 for a stay in July 2018

We stayed for nearly a week at this excellent cottage. It accommodated our family of four (two parents with two grown up children). The cottage has been completely refurbished inside and has very comfortable amenities, including a comfortable living room with sound system, cable TV, fast WiFi, wood fireplace, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds in the bedrooms. There is one bathroom with modern shower and plumbing. There is also a very pleasant garden and great views from the house. The location is perfect for exploring the Lake District, with Hawkshead a 20 minute walk or 10 minute drive. The owner makes a great effort to be welcoming, and thoughtful provided some bread, jam, juice, milk, eggs etc, so that we could settle right in without needing to start our holiday shopping. In addition there are plenty of Ordnance Survey maps in the house and books about the region.

Our stay was wonderful and we would unreservedly recommend this cottage. We'll be staying there again next time we visit.

“A wonderful break”
Reviewed 12 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We spent six days in this charming cottage, a perfect place to explore Beatrix Potter country. The owner, Geoff, was very friendly and obliging. A perfect getaway for a couple or small family.

Myself & two friends stayed at Gillbank cottage for a week and I found it to be a fantastic change of environment. The cottage had all of the facilities for people to stay there for short or long periods.

The surrounding area was very beautiful. We were within walking distance from the village of Hawkshead, whilst being far away enough to be in a peaceful, quiet little bubble of nature. Sitting in the garden each morning as the birds were singing made for an enjoyable lifestyle change.

We were welcomed warmly by Geoff to the cottage, who ensured everything was perfect for us.

I had a great time and would definitely look at staying there again.

“Beautiful setting”
Reviewed 4 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Lovely cottage with all the amenities you could need. Spent a lovely few days exploring the area and the nearby Hawkshead village. Excellent location for getting out and about. Beautiful setting and coming from a city so quiet at night. Wish we could have stayed longer.
