“Our 4th year at Lakeside and it only gets better”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2010

This is the 4th year that we have stayed with Brenda and David at Lakeside in June and find it hard to consider going anywhere else in the area. Great service, marvellous breakfasts and such a nice setting. They even provided bright sunny weather for our entire stay this year.

We were well looked after from an email the week before telling us what was playing at the local rep (in June and July the Grassmere players generally have a good play on) to giving advise on the local area for visits and walks. Our rooms were comfortable and we had views over the garden and river. The lounge on the ground floor is welcoming and spacious and has enough reading material on the area to satisfy most people.

The location is ideal being just far enough away from the town centre to be quiet and have good access to the fells behind the house. In less than 15 mins you can be away from everything on the walk up to Loughhrigg. The town is just a 15 minute walk over the river and through the park, the shops are pretty good, choices for eating very extensive for the size of the place.

The Hotel seems to cater well for all, from the young to the not so, from serious walkers, to amblers, to tourists and to people like ourselves, who want to do a small bit of all of that and love the area and the change of pace it offers.

My wife and I have been to Riverside many times and have always been made very welcome with nothing too much trouble for Dave and Brenda. This year we decided to take our 6 year old Grandaughter and booked the family room which was a delight , Emily was greeted as we all were as returning family members. Looking forward to our next visit in October

Riverside is situated in a delightful position just a short stroll from the centre of Ambleside. The combination of friendly hosts, very comfortable, clean and relaxing accomodation together with superb breakfasts make this 'quite simply the best B&B' you might stay at.

Recently returned from a lovely break in the Lakes and what a gem we found in Riverside. Such attention to detail given by Brenda and Dave to everything from the superb breakfast to the rooms and confortable reception areas.Complete in every way. All this and so wonderfuully positioned for exploring the Lake District. We certainly intend to revisit.

If you were looking for the best guest house in the world to stay at, you might be slightly disappointed - at present it's only 9th in the world ! It is not surprising as the accommodation, customer care and location could not be better. David and Brenda could not be more friendlier and helpful. Not only a great breakfast (one of the best I've had in Britain) but they will help you with walks, visits etc. Ambleside is only a pleasant 10 minutes walk away and you avoid the traffic. Great for parking. We will be putting it on our itinerary for the future.
