We recently made a return visit to the Riverside B&B in Ambleside. It continues to enjoy numerous accolades because Dave and Brenda excel at what they do. On this occasion we had driven eight hours from the north of Skye to reach there and it was such a pleasure to arrive. Dave and Brenda maintain their home with dedication but it is the human touch that really distinguishes them. They really do make all their guests feel welcome.
The breakfast is delicious and the choices are varied; the candles in the hall and lounge are pretty in the evening light; the local high quality toiletries and preserves etc are very much enjoyed! The room where we stayed has two windows overlooking the garden and the river. It is most comfortable and relaxing. We hope to return as the Riverside is conspicuously superior accommodation and Dave and Brenda are such lovely people!

We stayed here for 2 nights in May. Judging from the pictures on the website I was a bit dissapointed with the size of the room. But it was still big enough to accommodate all our stuff. Clean room, nice big and clean bathroom. Good beds. The breakfast (although a bit on the late side for what we're normally used to) was absolutely fabulous. Fresh orange juice, homemade bread (yum!) and othe local produce. Great guest lounge with a fireplace. Great hosts, very helpful in finding us a nice restaurant and answering all other questions we had :-) Home away from home!

I was taking part in the Great North Swim, (again!), and where better to stay than the Riverside. Believe everthing you read about this place, it really is that good. Lesley and I have lost count of the number of times we have stayed here and are already planning our return!

Just one thing to add to all the other coments and that is Brenda and Dave ARE the Riverside, without them it just would not be the same!

Yes, another five star review! I dont think we've ever felt so relaxed in a place. Everything was perfect - the location first, by the river and the sheep, and away from the town but such a beautiful and easy walk into town. The room was perfect - so clean, spacious, comfortable bed, and a great spot to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony. Breakfast was as delicious as everybody else has mentioned, everything local and fresh and yummy homemade bread and local jams. Brenda and Dave are delightful - so friendly, so attentive, great small touches like the restaurant reviews and news printed out at brekkie. Riverside at Ambleside is a truly magical place.

Riverside is a wonderful B&B in an excellent location and is certainly far superior to most B&B's. It's close enough to walk into Ambleside but far enough out to give you a true lake district feeling. The rooms are lovely, well kept and clean. Brenda and Dave are wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are first class. This was our first visit here but we would not hesitate to stay again should we visit the lake District in the future. Thank you Dave and Brenda for a wonderful stay.
