“A Gem of a Property!”

My Daughter and myself have just returned from spending a week in the Lakes staying at Above Stock. What a gem of a find! The accommodation is absolutely delightful and so clean, with everything you could want or need, also right in the middle of Ambleside. From the moment we stepped in we loved it. There is a downstairs toilet and drying room, then up a few steps to the beautiful spacious lounge with views over Ambleside, Stock Ghyll, and the Fells beyond. It was so nice to people watch from the windows. The kitchen was extensively equipped, and a further few steps led to the bedrooms, a pretty twin and large double with kingsize bed, which became mine! The bedrooms were furnished with lots of pine and I had a dressing table with 3-piece mirror. Lots of sockets and mirrors were a boon and there was a skylight window above the bath, so you could watch the sky and birds. Controllable heating as well, which meant it was cosy if the evenings got chilly. The Housekeeper Carol keeps it so beautifully clean, it must be a labour of love. We will definitely be returning to this apartment.

Just finished a splendid two weeks in Ambleside. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay in a place called Above Stock. Situated above a shop called Silver Moon, this rental has everything. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and so well laid out. A large open plan living room, comfortable and spacious, with a large seating area for meal times. The kitchen had every conceivable device and piece of cutlery you could wish for. The bathroom was lovely and well lit. The main bedroom had a King size bed and storage everywhere. The twin bedroom was lovely and the mattresses comfortable. The accommodation was central in Ambleside and perfect for dining in one of the many restaurants. Also closely situated were the ever present Wainwrights for the walkers amongst you. Highly recommend the Above Stock, perfect in every way.

“Central location to the Lakes District”

Very comfortable accommodation, well appointed kitchen, lovely bedrooms and the bathroom had a skylight which let in lovely light. Good heating and access to the town. Parking was great with the voucher to a nearby parking centre.Pub across the road which was not a problem noise wise.Extra toilet was an advantage.

We enjoyed the view over the street and the people watching.

“The Perfect Place”
Reviewed 2 July 2012 for a stay in June 2012

This house was perfect for me and my friends. As soon as you drive up the street, you see the quaint Silver Moon shop, and you can't help but smile at how charming the building is. Then you see the slate stairs leading up to the front door, and you think, "Wow! I wish my front door steps looked as lovely as these do!" The steps kind of wind up to the left and you can see the lovely ferns and flowers growing out of the cracks in the slates.

Once you get the old-style key out of the lock box, and open the door, you step back in time. A narrow entryway that is stone and another material greet you. Stairs and small wooden doors surround you and you can't help but be happy that you're in a completely different feel from your American-style home. You go up some steps and into a very spacious living room/dining room. The pictures don't do it justice how large this room is. The windows in the room overlook the street and they give the best view of other slate-roofed homes, foliage, and the goings-about of daily lives. The kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms were perfect with lots of wooden accents, and the fact that the house was so close to "downtown" was great. It was an easy walk to the pub, which was right across the street.

I will definitely be renting this property from now on whenever I return to Ambleside. The four of us felt "at home" while there, and that's the most important thing when staying at a place for a long period of time.

I also want to mention that the owners were wonderful to work with, and answered all of my questions quickly.
