Really brilliant location, perfect for a countryside escape. Excellent access to the town and also to the lake. Especially good as a winter break when it's quiet in the town. Highly recommended.
Old stone cottage in a quiet part of Ambleside with easy walk into town. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. More suited to two than four as accommodation is tight. As mentioned in the owners notes, the stairway is steep with direct access to bedrooms and bathroom at the top - no landing. This could be tricky if you weren't really careful.
Lovely walks from easy strolls to hard hill climbs and, of courses stunning countryside.
My husband and I rented this cottage for four nights and we really enjoyed it. The cottage is quite small but that was great for us and one infant. The location could not be better. Two minutes down the hill and your in the centre. It was very clean and cosy. We only actually stayed here three nights and lit the fire every night, which was lovely, and the coal that was left lasted the whole time. We had to buy some fire lighters but that was ok. I would mention the top of stairs is a little dangerous, however I'm sure that's just how the cottage was built. There is a dip between both bedrooms and the bathroom so it's a good idea to keep the bathroom light on all night. The owner has put handles in at the top of the stairs to assist you. All in all its a very cosy cottage.
I stayed in this cottage for 4 nights in May, and had a great week. The weather was very kind, and the cottage had all the facilities you could need. Very comfortable, warm, with fantastic views from the front of the property. Very quiet, on the outskirts of town but literally 5 minutes walk down to the shops.
