Acorn Guest House
Reviewed 27 April 2012

My girlfriend booked the acorn guest house as a suprise for me. Arrived at the guest house it looked cosy and welcoming. We was welcomed by the owners and showed us to our room. Our was number 7 with the balcony. The layout and decor was really nice.

The bed comfy and extra pillows and quilts/blankets were in the wardrobe. the bathroom was moden and had an old style wooden door with slits in them which looked good but not so good for privacy.

The balcony had a lovey view of the garden and was nice to sit on the balcony table and chairs as the sun set. there was a good selection of tea flavoured.tea/coffee/hot chocolate in the room with microwave and fridge. The owners live in the house next door and dont bother you and also dont mind you asking them questions. they told us about a local pub that did 2for £10 on meals so we went and was really nice good quality food

. the next day we asked if we could stay another night but try the.other room we was interested jn but unfortuntly was already booked. we had breakfast there is a selection of fruit, yoghurts, cereal, breads, juices, hot drinks and also the kitchen staff offer you a cooked.brekfast. could not fault the staffs hard work and it is so peaceful.

before we left we took a walk down the garden which is really big, has a mini bird house and the owners two small jack rucells came out to play very friendly. there is a table at the end of the garden which looks on to a river. overall fantastic little place. :)

I arrived at acorn guest house in October 2011. Arriving outside the owners greeted us with pleasant hello's. He then took us upstairs to the room I booked called the balcony room number 7. It was beautiful the room the view out on the balcony was looking out into their gardens it was gorgeous. I had a very pleasant good night's sleep in a double bed. It was cosy & warm. We also had our own bathroom with shower. The room was lovely & spotless I couldn't fault it. They served us breakfast, offered us a full English had a selection of cereals & fruit out on side it was all fresh. The area was lovely as well just down the road was an excellent pub very nice food. I would definitely stay again :)

Thank you

After already enjoying the comforts of "The Acorn Guest House" on a previous visit to Hull, we were happy to return for a second visit with my sister-in-law. Once again our week-end was made most enjoyable with the warm friendly welcome from the owners Janet and Stuart, and their little Jack Russell Terriers. My sister-in-law was very impressed with the availability of drinks making facility, with supply of tea, coffee, night-cap, even biscuits in each room, and a large bowl of fruit in the hall for guests to help themselves if they wish. Beds are comfortable, and everything is immaculate. A superb breakfast in the morning, overlooking the most lovely spacious garden. We will not need to search the internet in future, we've found the perfect guest house, with free parking too !!!! Kath & Cliff.

This is a very comfortable, no-fuss guesthouse, ideally suited for visiting Hull with everything very well thought out by the owners to make the stay easy, relaxed and convenient. The breakfasts are excellent. There is a good sized fridge and a microwave in every room as well as tea-making facilities. The owners supply a good range of crockery and cutlery to make clear to guests that they are perfectly welcome to bring in their own food, rather than having to furtively creep in with a M&S or Waitrose carrier bag. We shall be back.

We stayed just one night in January whilst attending a graduation ceremony. The hospitality was excellent with limitless availability of tea, coffee and fruit.
The family room downstairs was spacious and comfortable.
The real bonus however is the dog friendly environment, with no frowns or worries. There is a good park nearby.
Close to the University and within easy reach of the Centre of Hull, on foot or by bus.
Thanks.
