The staff in the restaurant were very good. They were good because they were down to earth, genuine, and really cared that you had a good experience. We were served by both Patrycja and Louis who we want to give a special mention to for their outstanding service. Both were very friendly, and helpful with ordering both food and drinks and made our stay better. We really enjoyed the restaurant.

Our room was great too. It was massive and the last room on the right-hand side as you look at the hotel from the front. It had an extremely high ceiling and big original windows looking out to the front. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was incredible. It had a roll-top bath which we enjoyed as well as a large walk-in modern shower which we also appreciated.

The only thing which was not up to the same standard as the rest was the bar. Although it gives the impression of being a cocktail bar, no one I spoke to really seemed to know cocktails. I love cocktails and make them at home. When I go to a cocktail bar, I expect them to make them better than me or to offer something different. However, I found the people working behind the bar were definitely not mixologists. Instead, they just followed recipes. When I asked what their signature cocktail was they didn't know. When I asked what cocktails they could make with the bottle of Mescal on the shelf, they didn't know. So the bar was disappointing. I don't think it helps that the bar is in two parts and from the main area you can't see the actual bar. There were people with children eating in the bar too so it didn't feel like an adult space and somewhere nice to sip a cocktail.

However, to conclude, we enjoyed our weekend away at this hotel. We liked the staff in the restaurant and at the reception who did their best to make our stay enjoyable.
