We looked around a few hotels which seemed full and expensive. Wincheap was superb, Jo was very helpful along the way and room very reasonable, large room. Excellent location, 10 mins to centre and breakfast lovely. Def check it out!

Having lived in Canterbury some time ago and returning for a wedding, the Wincheap Guesthouse was the perfect stop over. The room was very spacious and clean and the breakfast generous. The owner was exceptionally helpful and welcoming and town was a 5 minute stroll away with none of the normal parking worries!

We stayed at the Wincheap for just one night whilst exploring Canterbury.
The benefit of free parking helped us choose this Guest House, together with its location, and we received a very warm welcome from a very friendly host, Joe. We didn't have to "book in" at any specific time, because he had already asked what time, roughly, we would be arriving. Our room was very nice indeed – it was clean, as was the bathroom, and there were some very nice touches, such as biscuits and tissues. Despite our room being at the front, it was remarkably quiet and we enjoyed a good night's sleep in nice bedding.
The breakfast could not be faulted: there was a good selection of fruits and yoghurt, as well as cereals, with fruit juice; then came the full English, which was both substantial and of good quality; then came toast and more tea and coffee if you wanted it; there were also rolls, croissants and muffins. . . . We were stuffed!
Joe allowed us to leave our car on site after "checking out" while we popped into Canterbury for a few more hours before coming home. (The town centre is barely ten minutes' walk away.)
We really cannot find anything negative to say about our stay – nothing was too much trouble and we would recommend the Wincheap to anyone.
Finally, we also recommend the King's Head (just a few minutes' walk down the road) for good quality, reasonably priced meals and very friendly staff.
All in all, we had a wonderful weekend!

Only stayed 2 nights, so in-depth review not appropriate. Didn't meet Joe (he was away), but Patrick comfortably stepped up to the mark.
At first glance, the Wincheap area seems to lean towards the industrial side of commerce. Indeed the guesthouse backs on to an industrial estate. But don't be put off, as this fact certainly paid no part in the quality of our stay.
Smoker in your party? Try to get room 1. It's on the ground floor with french doors that open out onto a little paved area with garden chairs & table.
Guesthouse has also won many awards for it's floral decorations. And you'll see why!
Agree with pretty much everything in other review, so won't repeat. Though I'd recommend The Kings Head for dinner. (5 minute walk). Reasonable, if not comparatively cheap prices, quality food, well cooked & piping hot. My partner had rump steak one night. Said it was the best she'd tasted in over 2 years!

We stayed here for two nights while walking the North Downs Way around Canterbury. Situated on Wincheap, close to the city centre, this guest house has private parking, which is very convenient as parking in Canterbury is quiet expensive. We had a twin ensuite room - very comfortable, bathroom was clean and tidy, tv and welcome tray with tea, coffee and biscuits in the room.

Joe is a very courteous host, with lots of knowledge of the local area and very friendly. A hearty breakfast was served in the lounge - full english or continental with croissants. Nothing was too much trouble and they are happy to bring you more tea, coffee etc. I noticed that they made packed lunches for some people as well.

There is a nice pub, the Maiden's Head, just down the road and it is only a ten minute walk or so to the city centre, with abundant restaurants and all the sites.

I would thoroughly recommend this guesthouse to anyone staying in Canterbury. We even got a discount from the price we were originally quoted which was a nice touch!
