Description: Pleasant looking premises, Real Ale, Garden for children, reasonable range of menu, but the service is very slow and the meal not all edible due to stale vegetables. Stick to the beer.

We held the wake for our uncle at the Three Hammers this week. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed the mini toad in the hole's. A section of the pub was set a side for family and friends, which gave us privacy for the occasion. A big thank you to everyone.

Hi

Many Thanks for the review. We love to receive feedback.

We do work hard with all our wakes as it is never an easy time for families. Just to know we made one thing a little less stressful at this time of grief goes a long way

I do hope we get to see you for happier times in the future.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Over the years we have been to 'The Hammers' many times, but recently it had been so awful that we avoided it. HOWEVER, Barbara arrived and, although I was unhappy about the brewery selling off the garden to the Co-Op, we've been to the pub to eat loads of times recently because it's now welcoming and a gazillion times better than it's been since Cilla left all those years ago.

Not only is Barbara (new GM) welcoming and friendly, most of the staff are now too. We often take our dogs with us and they're also welcomed, often with treats too!

The food will always be hit and miss, dependant on who's in the kitchen, but recently we've had few moans about the food.

Thank you so much for such a lovely review.
We have worked hard to restore The Hammers to its former glory. Yes there have been ups and downs along the way but we are finally starting to go in the right direction. Just needs a little love and affection to make it a nice place to be.

Looking
Forward to many more fun days ahead with the new garden

What has happened to the three hammers looks very inviting now the garden has been improved
We come to St Albans on family business every few months but think it’s time to give the place a miss the last few visits have not been good uncooked fish and chips cold soup
tuts from the waitress because it was returned

Today was severed coffee the saucers don’t fit the cups and so it got tipped all in my lap
Bar maid was on her mobile texting all the time behind the bar
Once again no food being served in the afternoons between 3 and 6 so if this is
acceptable to the way mitchell and butlers want to run their pups so be it

I am very sorry that you have had a couple of poor experiences we work hard to ensure these things dont happen. We are currently a small kitchen team and when a member of that team goes sick last minute we have to ensure that the existing team get the breaks they are legally entitled to. This has meant on a couple of occassions having to temporarly close our kitchen during the quiet period of the day to protect the rest of the business

I have personally dealt with the barmaid that you have the issue with as I believe you have previously had poor service from her and i can assure you it will not be happening again.

Please contact me personally to discuss further should you have any furthers questions.

Kindest Regards

Came here tonight for dinner (12.3.18) food was ok. Couldn't get the only vegan option on the menu as they had ran out so my partner had to settle for a burger without the bun to make it suitable for dairy free. I had a burger with red onion and cambert, it was lovely but they forgot the cambert. It was nice enough for what we wanted and appreciate they were busy the day before (mothers day and we popped in for a drink) but possi ly best not to say "we have looked in the freezer and dont have any left"

Lyn
Apologies for the issues you experienced with us.
We are a small and new team in our kitchen and have made a few mistakes in communication between front of house and the kitchen.
Please make contact with me by email in order that we can talk further
