“Disappointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2011

We ordered afternoon tea for two and expected a treat. However, we were very disappoined with the experience. Instead of a selection of dainty sandwiches we were given eight quarter pieces but only two fillings - egg and mayonnaise and beef and stilton - and with crusts left on. Neither of these fiilings was really to our taste. There was also a salad with the sandwiches. The scones and cream were OK but there was not enough jam. And instead of a selection of little cakes we were given two slices of cake which were both stale. We were not offered any choice even though there were 7 different cakes on display. The waitress simply used up the 2 last pieces from plates that had obviously been on display for some time. And the food was served by an unsmiling waitress who seemed not quite sure of how to present afternoon teas. It was a waste of £20!

“Cosy spot for a pleasant lunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2011

On a short touring holiday last week we had planned to stop off for lunch somewhere which had character on our journey between Manchester and Cardiff. Our internet search came up with what appeared to be the ideal choice in Mrs Muffins Tea Shop in Ledbury.
We had never been to Ledbury before and we arrived on a very wet Tuesday lunchtime.
We found the tea shop on a very attractive and quaint lane in the town.
The tea shop itself is quite small and split between two rooms. Although it was quite busy when we arrived we managed to find a small table in a corner of the room. We chose to have a light lunch which we found to be quite enjoyable.
If we return to Ledbury in the future we would like to spend more time in the exploring the town although may choose to try one of the many other eating places for lunch.

“small tea shop”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2011

This is a small tea shop which serves lovely fresh and locally produced food, ideal for couples. We went as part of a group of 7 for the "high tea" and had to sit at three different tables which was not ideal, however we did enjoy the food. As some previous comments about the staff mentioned the staff were not great but just ok. For people wanting the traditional afternoon tea it would have been better to have had friendlier and more accomodating staff.

“insolent staff and dirty shop”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2011

My husband and I visited Mrs Muffins around 3pm on Sunday 28th August, we had high expectations, it was in the most amazing street, was award winning and looked divine....what a disappointment ! We walked in and were greeted with every table being empty of customers but full of dirty plates, crockery and food all over the floor. We assumed the staff would be in to clean pretty soon so decided to stay despite our reservations. We cleared our own table to enable us to sit down, 5 minutes later a young girl came to the table, she did not apologise for the mess, she did not wipe the table and just said yes ? We gave our order and she just walked away. We could see four members of staff hanging around the till all chatting and not busy doing anything. The girl then brought our tea over and just slapped it on the table very unceremoniously.
After another ten minutes none of the mess had been cleared up and we could still hear the girls chatting, we managed to collar one member of staff who was leaving for the day and asked her why it hadn't been cleared up, she said they had had a busy lunch. I said well it is now 3.30pm and you are not busy at all now, again she didn't apologise and walked off to get the other girls.
The same girl who had dumped our tea on the table came to clear the shop and you could tell she was not happy at all that we had complained, we asked if we should leave the money on the table or come to the till. She was extremely surly with her reply and told us to come to the till.
It was not a pleasant experience for either of us, the owner of the shop has a prime spot and it is being ruined by surly and lazy staff. Unsurprisingly we wont be back.
