Upon arrival there was no one at reception, when the lady did come we were told that our room was situated at the other side of the hotel so to move our car.

The patio doors to enter our room were partially blocked by an overgrown bush and above the door the guttering was leaking, it was raining so no way to avoid getting wet, either by walking into the overgrown bush or standing under the leak. At first glance the room was lovely (we had the Alan Suite) although, after having a look around it was clear to see that the room is lacking TLC. The bathroom was the worst, with dead bugs around the bath and on the windowsill, there was a spider in the bath and behind the towel rail. The towels had holes in and there was only one hand towel provided.

There were no staff to greet us at breakfast (which is only served 8-9am) and we didn’t know how it worked. Breakfast wasn’t anything special considering the four star rating of the hotel. There were no serving tongs to pick up the bread and the serving spoons for the hot breakfast were all mixed. There was one lady working and juices and the bread section were left empty for long periods (considering how short breakfast time is).

Considering the amount we paid for one night at this hotel, it was extremely disappointing.

This place is quaint and pretty and that's about all it has going for it.
It's very much lacking in all other aspects..
Turning up we were not warmly welcomed, it was hard to even find any staff.
Our room was dungeon like, far too dark and lacked attention to detail, poly filled walls which hadn't been sanded, TV hung on the wall squint, gorgeous bathroom with cheap flooring.
Breakfast only served between 8-9 on a weekend--sorry but thats not late enough in my opinion. Walked into breakfast, had to find a seat ourself and everything was self service but no tea bags so had to locate staff (already proved this is difficult!)
Pre packed pastries and no yogurt.
Has a nice bar area on going in but was closed so we never got the pint we would've liked to have sat outside with.
If I'm in the area again I'll be staying in the close by Premier Inn as you know what your getting.
Sorry but this place needs some serious improvements done.

My son has just got married at Munstone and I must say it was the perfect wedding. The venue was amazing and the staff were attentive and nothing was to much trouble. Yyvonne was the perfect host and look after us very well throughout the day. We had afternoon tea and then a evening BBQ and it was amazing. We couldn't fault anything. The room are beautiful and very clean. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone thinking of getting married.

We came here for a wedding in nearby Lyde Court, which only has basic accommodation! When we arrived we were shown to a lovely room, which, unfortunately, appeared not to have any windows so it was like a dungeon! However, they responded well to a request to move to a different room (Honeysuckle) on the first floor of the main hotel, which had pleasant views from the large window. The lady (owner?) said that when she saw us she thought we would like this room better and, whoopee, it was cheaper!

The bathroom was somewhat disappointing, a stylish but totally impractical wash basin with nowhere to put soap or toothpaste - a triumph of style over design!! In fact the whole bathroom lacked places to put things, nowhere to put shower products in the shower, nowhere to hang up towels etc. Also there was only one hand towel. This was rectified by the staff when we requested an additional one. Also the toilet seat was not screwed down properly!

The bed was a big disappointment, the linen didn't feel laundered and the pillows were disgusting with torn pillow cases.

Breakfast was ok but you had to be quick about it as it was only available from 8am to 9am at the weekend!

Having said all that, the owner was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel definitely had a "Fawlty Towers" air about it!
