I come here often to enjoy the river slowly moving along, tea in hand, sitting in a deckchair watching the kingfishers. There's not a lot of National Trust stuff but a nice stroll, gardens and tranquility

Visited on Easter weekend and enjoyed the Easter egg hunt, which was themed on Peter Rabbit, with a surprise interaction with Flopsy, Mopsy and Mrs Rabbit.
Daffodils were beautiful and the river wye was peaceful but very full and fast flowing.
Late spring to early autumn would be optimal for the plants and the walled garden, but would happily visit multiple times to see the changing seasons.

This was just a short visit, an hour or so. It was peaceful because it was cold winter day, but there were several families with children enjoying themselves and the snowdrops were great.

The big feature is the river, of course. You can feel its power and the ducks had their own way of tacking against the current. One helpful gardener told us it often bursts its banks, which at this time seemed incredible.

Another visitor told us he visits at several times over the year, there is always something different. I can imagine it.

One of those places the National Trust does well.

The Weir gardens are a few miles from Hereford. A lovely setting next to the river wye.
The snowdrops are like a carpet amongst the trees in a few weeks these will be replaced by daffodils.

Super place to walk round, to admire the wonderful gardens of wild flowers which have been laid out on the banks of the Wye, and also the purpose built allotments which are maintained there. Great place for a swift picnic.
