The key thing that is missing from the description is that this is a student let property during University term time. This is plainly evident in the furnishings, lack of minor repairs on the property, and the fact that there is a cork board in the kitchen with EPC ratings and council occupancy notices. If we had known this at the time of booking, it might have been easier to accept this. I was expecting a decently maintained holiday let property.
Despite the poor rating, this place was clean on arrival. The place had new sheets and plenty of towels for the week's stay. The beds were all comfortable, and everyone had a good night's sleep. There is a pub right across the street, should you wish to partake.
As I've said, the place was in need of fixing. Because of this lack of attention, there were actually many slugs in both the rear lounge and the ground floor front bedroom! This is completely unacceptable. The downstairs WC/shower room was also lit by a motion sensor light, which turns off after a minute or so. Even if you are moving around or in the shower, this light will still turn off until you move AFTER it shuts down. The upstairs shower bracket was broken as well, such that you had to be very careful not to touch it once you had it pointing any direction other than the wall, lest it fall to the floor.
