Based on online reviews, we booked a two night stay at this hotel for a short break. The hotel is excellently located to visit the Historic Docks in Portsmouth and a short walk from Gunwharf Quays with all its shops and restaurants.
The hotel has some limited parking but if you cannot get a space (first come, first served) there is secure parking across the road.
The hotel has obviously been subjected to some refurbishment relatively recently with a bright and tasteful dining room (Horatio's) where breakfast and evening meals are taken. Also off the spacious entrance/reception area is the Victory bar where you can enjoy a drink and bar food which is typical pub food. This area was comfortable but needs a little work to make it feel less of a club bar and more of a hotel or pub bar.
We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening but enjoyed our breakfasts here, which were self service so you could enjoy what you wished.
As we had booked online the check-in was very quick. Our room was a Classic double bedroom located on the first floor in an area which has been tastefully refurbished and gave us everything we required for our stay. The room was very spacious, with tub chairs and table as well as a spacious bathroom with bath and shower head. More
