“A lovely country retreat”
Reviewed 25 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

A well equipped barn conversion in a lovely rural location. We had great weather and were able to take advantage of the garden, eating out on our private patio most nights. My three year old enjoyed our nightly ritual of popping over to feed the piggies in the field next to us. And though there are trains going past regularly...they aren't noisy and again became a great source of enjoyment spotting them with our daughter. It comfortably fitted the three of us - though perhaps Bramble Barn (next door) with two bedrooms would have been better so we didn't disturb a sleeping child getting to bed each night. It was a far more rural setting than I anticipated...lots of narrow windy country roads to get there, but very close to M5 and A38 with great access most places. The hot water and internet were on the blink one day which was annoying but the owners Matt and Sarah were very prompt in sorting it all out. A couple of things that would have made the stay better would have been a fan for night time...the barn conversion has been done well with great insulation, but on the hot summer nights having all of the windows open meant lots of bugs in the house. (moths & spiders and the like - which all seemed much LARGER in the country). Likewise curtains or blackout blinds for the windows would have been better (certainly in the bedroom) as open windows at night meant the office-type blinds they have there rattled a lot as they blew about. Also our three year old was wide awake at 5am when the sun came up as the blinds didn't keep the morning sun out at all. All nice weather and summer problems to have though and didn't affect our trip negatively. Highly recommend the place.

“Very comfortable”
Reviewed 13 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

This is a very spacious one-bedroom barn conversion and all the rooms are generously sized. The large living room/dining room has a large comfortable sofa and TV and there was plenty of room for us plus a couple of friends who came to dinner one evening. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and double ended bath with loads of hot water (the heated towel rail was not working). The bedroom has an extremely comfortable large 6ft double bed as well as sofa, with plenty of space all round. It's heated by under floor heating and once we got the hang of this, we found the whole place warm and cosy both day and night without getting either too hot or cold. We found it maintained a very steady comfortable temperature. Lovely walks from the cottage but also some excellent walks just a few miles away. A high standard of decoration and maintenance. Altogether an A1 experience and we'd be happy to stay again.
