“Private, Pretty, Perfect”
Reviewed 13 December 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Lilac Cottage provided a quiet, comfy, warm base for our Cotswold vacation. The dedicated parking space right outside was a definite plus. We were pampered by the soft beds and wonderful pillows and slept like logs. The well-equipped kitchen was more than adequate for a vacationer's needs and the downstairs powder room was convenient. The lounge was cozy and the timed central heating was perfect (we didn't need to light the wood fire provided). The garden led to the main road and the walk to the Bell took about two minutes and the town center just a bit more.

We are so pleased you felt pampered at Lilac Cottage - that's exactly what we endeavour to achieve.
Location was one of the (many!) qualities of Lilac Cottage that drew us to it and we are happy to share that with our guests.
We do hope you will return in the future.
Best regards, Dianne

“Cosy cottage, very well equipped and in a great location”

Stayed for 3 nights and found the cottage very comfortable for our group of 4 adults and 6 month old baby. Had everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay. The weather was wet but it gave us a good excuse to come back in late afternoon and light the fire. Very easy walk into Stow from the cottage. We had 2 cars between us but found no problem with parking the 2nd car nearby. Will definitely be back again!

Thank you for your comment that you were comfortable in Lilac Cottage as a group of 4 adults and a young baby - it helps future prospective visitors to see that we can accommodate groups and families of various sizes.
One thing we can't organise is the weather - but as you say, it was a good reason to light the fire and enjoy!
We would love to see you again in the future.
Best regards, Dianne

“Cozy little cottage in a perfect location”

Our family (including two teenaged children) stayed here for one week while exploring the Cotswolds. The cottage was in a perfect location in the village of Stow-on-the-Wold in that it was a very short walk into the center of town but on a quiet side street with very little noise. The cottage was very comfortable for our family of four. We never felt crowded for space. There was a nice back garden where my husband and I sat outside every evening with a glass of wine/beer. One note on the back yard though, it isn't completely private. You do have a private patio, but the rest of the yard is shared with the cottage next door. That never proved to be a problem for us, however. The neighbors were all quiet and kept to themselves, as did we.

Stow-on-the-Wold is a great central spot for exploring this region of England. It was central to the Cotswolds, close to Blenheim Palace and Warwick Castle, and close enough for an easy day trip to Bath and to Tintern Abbey in Wales. There was a Tesco supermarket right outside the village for easy grocery shopping.

Diane, the owner was very easy to work with and very responsive to questions. The cottage was clean and the furnishings were comfortable. My only critiques would be that the kitchen does not have any larger pots and space is a little tight, so I wouldn't plan to cook too many complicated meals while there. Even cooking pasta was a little tricky with the small sauce pan that we found there. Also, the parking is very tight, so make sure you come with a small car and can easily scoot around your car to get in and out.

All in all, I would highly recommend the Lilac cottage to anyone interested in visiting the Cotswolds.

Thank you for your positive comments on Lilac Cottage - we're glad you enjoyed your stay.
Regarding the two negatives, the kitchen was stocked with a full set of pans so I don't understand why you could only find one small saucepan. The Information Folder does have the number of the Housekeeper and suggests visitors contact her with any problems - I'm sure she could have resolved this one quite quickly for you.
Concerning the car parking space, I don't understand your comment that visitors should bring only a small car to Lilac Cottage - we use a BMW X3 and our neighbour parks her BMW X3 alongside and we haven't encountered any problems up to now.
I thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your review and am glad you enjoyed the Cotswolds.

What a fabulous find. Just a minutes walk out of town to get away from the traffic and tourists but perfect proximity to walk to all the local shops and restaurants. My husband and I loved this place as it was so cute, had everything in the cupboards that you could possibly want, it was super quiet and had its own car space. We were so delighted when we arrived as lilac cottage was even better then we expected. Diane the owner of the cottage also rang us to see if everything was ok and gave us a few good sight seeing tips. There is also a huge Tesco in the town so we could stock up on all our favourite breakfast requirements. The town has some great pubs. Our favourite were the Bell inn and Queens head Inn. We stayed for a week and used the cottage as a base to visit many of the nearby villages. We even drove over to bath which took us around 2 hours but it was so worth the drive.

“The perfect cottage in an idyllic location”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We enjoyed every minute staying at Lilac Cottage for our Easter break, what a find ! It's a warm cosy cottage in an idyllic location. The cottage was full of character, well equipped with a large garden, toys/games for the children. It was a short stroll into Stow which had plenty of pubs/restaurants and tea shops. Nothing was too much trouble! We send a big thank you to Dianne for allowing us to stay in this wonderful cottage and for the Easter eggs left for the children!! It was very kind of you and it certainly put a bigger smile on their faces! We look forward to visiting again soon.

Thank you for your positive review of Lilac Cottage. We do try to cater for all groups of visitors - e.g. couples, families, friends, wedding guests, horse racing fans, single people needing some quiet time.
I must mention Jenny, our Housekeeper, who does a sterling job making sure the cottage is ready for the next visitors - and organising the little extras!
We are so please you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again.
Regards
Dianne
