We are a three generational family of expat Brits who have lived in the US for more than 30 years. We chose Mill Bank House for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Old Country to reconnect with our origins, past haunts, and to provide partners and grandchildren with an opportunity to connect with part of family history. It turned out that the choice was perfect. The Cotswold location was ideal for many places of significance to us ranging from Windsor, Oxford, Bath and Stratford within a day trip, to more local attractions such as Chedworth, Cirencester, Bibury, Burford and Bourton. The configuration of the house was ideal for our needs, including a lovely garden with a big lawn where children could wind down after a busy day, multiple places to sit is small clumps to avoid getting on each others' nerves, spacious kitchen with ample cooking and storage facilities, large dining area seating ten with no problem, outside patio with grill and seating, view over fields with sheep and pheasant.
We stayed ten days and could have stayed longer. Heidi handled our overseas reservation and payment efficiently and responded patiently to many questions. Everything was as described in her emailed documentation. Given our lack of familiarity with driving in England we decided to employ a bus with driver for our daytime trips and shopping. This worked well, but left us without transport in the evening. Be aware that the nearest pub is in Bibury which may be a bit far to walk on a typical evening. It didn't matter much because we had everything we needed on site and knew before we got there but some people might expect differently. We are very happy and grateful for our time at Mill Bank House and have no hesitation recommending it to anyone seeking to cater for a group like ours.
Liked best:

Liked least:
Two mile walk to nearest pub.

Dear Sue and Lindon, Thanks so much for a lovely review, I'm so pleased Mill Bank House worked out so well for you. You're right that there is no pub in the village but we see that as a positive as so many otherwise stunning Cotswold villages are spoilt in the summer by cars parked everywhere whilst their owners visit the pub! Our closest is The Hare and Hounds, a civilised 20 minute walk or 5 in a car.
Best wishes.
Heidi
