“Romantic break in a beautiful Cotswold village.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2012

Lovely room up in the eaves with super view across the village. Shame there was no jacuzzi bath up there but the room made up for that. It was spacious with attractive decor. We had the taster menu in the evening and it was really enjoyable. Everything served was a "work of art" and was almost too attractive to eat. I don't think I would like my food to be like that all the time though, and I am rather partial to a Harvester occasionally! We like to go to this sort of boutique-style hotel for special occasions, such as our anniversary and we were really glad we chose this one for our 22nd! In response to some comments that the service was slow at this hotel, I would suggest that you don't go to this sort of hotel if you are in a hurry and on a quick "stopover" on a business trip, for example.( Try a Holiday Inn EXPRESS or Travelodge if that's what you're after.) In any case, service was not slow. It was attentive and just at the right pace for a wonderfully relaxing break.

Room Tip: If you are taller than 5 ft 9, don't go up in the eaves My husband's head was touching the c...

We stayed for one night with the offer from Travelzoo that included an upgraded room, breakfast and the eight course taster menu. Our room in the coach house was a little small with no view but that is really the only negative thing about our stay. We were charmed with the hotel and garden and it is right in the centre of the town. The staff were very friendly and professional and the food was extremely tasty and well presented. We would highly recommend this hotel.

We booked the Dial House on a last minute Travel Zoo deal and found it to be excellent value all around. The room was huge with a contemporary bathroom to contrast the historic feel of the bedroom. The room would have beneffited from and iron and board but that's a minor issue. However the cloth canopy on the four poster bed was in a terrible state and inaddition to being tied together with bits of twine it was also an inch thick in dust. (Nothing unexpected on a four poster bed!)
The standards in the restaurant were much higher than we had anticipated. The presentation and quality of the food (8 course tasting menu) was excellent and the only criticism would be the quiet and subdued atmosphere in the dining room which is not necessarily the fault of the restaurant of course.

We had another lovely one night stay in a classic room at the Dial House on 23/4/12. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Just what the doctor ordered for a calm Saturday after a manic week. We love Bouton anyway, but the Hotel is a little gem in a mad world. Food in the hotel is good and the service a little slow, but presented very professionally. Room was nice and we had had a coach house room before, which was superb, but this was comfortable and beautifully presented, careful asking for a classic room if you are over 6ft, as these rooms are 350 years old with ceiling hieghts and doorways to match. We'll be back again, don't forget to try the Duke of Wellington pub over the bridge ......superb and loads of character!
