The cottage is so comfortable, beautifully appointed, first class bed linen and towels, great shower. Dawn and Bette take so much pride in the cottage and their love for it shines through. They are both lovely warm helpful women and we felt we were staying in a friend’s cottage rather than in a rental. The cottage is situated just a stone’s throw from the centre of the village but it’s actual location is in a very quiet area.
Bourton-on-the-Water is a most beautiful village as can be seen by the number of its daily visitors but, to us, it’s most magical times were early morning and in the evening strolling along the bank of the river looking at the bridges, the ducks in the water and enjoying the quiet and tranquility. Bourton-on-the-Water has great walks, good restaurants (especially the Italian), a wonderful bakery and its location made it easy for us to visit Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Cheltenham, Blenheim Palace and Sudeley Castle.
We have stayed in many self-catering accommodations in Ireland, England and on the Continent but our stay in Well Cottage definitely ranks among the best and happiest we have enjoyed. We had initially planned to stay for a week, changed to 10 days and ended up staying 2 weeks - need I say more!!
I would thoroughly recommend both Well Cottage and Bourton-on-the-Water to anyone looking for a great holiday.
My husband and I last stayed in this cottage six years ago, and hoped to return again because it was so lovely. It is even lovelier now. The flowers in the front garden were breathtaking. Every passerby was stopping to take pictures! The home was immaculately clean when we arrived, with a welcome basket awaiting us on the table wishing us a happy anniversary. We enjoyed visiting Model Village, the churches and shops, and taking walks through the countryside. There were several good restaurants close by, and the grocery is a five minute walk away. It was a perfect holiday. We hope to return in the Spring. Thank you Dawn and Bette for sharing this lovely home.
Stayed at Well cottage for five weeks April/May 2018 and found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. The owners, Dawn and Bette, were exceptionally helpful and added to our enjoyment of the cottage and village. A wonderful stay and we hope to be back.

We arrived late in the day, found everything in order and very clean. The kitchen was well equipped and the living area very comfortable. The bathroom had all modern fixtures. The cottage was only a couple of minutes from the center of town with plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. So pleased we booked this cottage and who knows, may even try it again in the future!
We stayed at the beautiful 'Well Cottage' in December for two nights and it was wonderful. We wanted a short break before Christmas to help us get into the festive mood. When we arrived at Well Cottage it was icy and dark, but the cottage looked so cosy all lit up, it looked like it was out of a fairytale!
Inside the cottage had been suitably decorated for Christmas and we had been left a little welcome gift and card (fresh bread from Bakery on the Water and some lovely jams). The cottage was extremely clean and very inviting. The wooden beams are spectacular and the log burner was brilliant. It is an extra £15 for all the things you need to light the fire and you need to request this before arrival. One thing I would mention is you get through the Wood much quicker than you would expect! However it is worth it to have the log burner keeping you toasty!
The cottage is located a few minutes walk from the centre of Bourton on the Water and really couldn't be better placed exploring the village! The owners were very helpful on booking the cottage and made sure the house was warm for us when we arrived.
We will definitely be returning next Christmas!
