Great tapas, with generous portions, a veritable mountain of anchovies. Four different dishes with warm focaccia totally filled two people! Steak had by third also deserves mention, as do their proper chips. Kitchens don't open until 6, so quiet early on, but by 7.30, the pub and restaurant was packed. Worth booking a table unless in early. Lewes is also a nightmare for parking.
We turned up at this venue without a booking and were accommodated in the restaurant, the initial service was prompt but from there it went down hill, food service was a little slow but the restaurant was full, we would have liked to have desert but no one came to enquiry if we were interested, by now the restaurant was much les busy and we felt service was over so we left. We would not try again
London prices for mediocre pub grub! Lamb and couscous tasted off and had to change it. Red wine 7.50 a glass!
Have visited a few times over the last 3 years. Pleasant friendly traditional pub with good food and local beer. Well placed for Lewes Castle. Recommend.
