The house was moderately interesting, but many people complained the name is misleading. The iron works housed I side are very impressive.

Had a few hours spare when we arrived in Lewes so decided to visit on a very hot afternoon. Plenty to see, interesting little museum, never realised Sussex was such a centre of iron production. Pretty gardens, lots of childrens activities going on. Fans of exposed timber work will enjoy the upstairs rooms. Southover High St is not the same as Lewes High St and it's a stiff climb back up to the town - but then most places are a stiff climb in Lewes.

Stopped in here on a whim, not sure what to expect and it's terrific. So nice to stumble on such a delightful small museum with such interesting things. Great staff - very friendly and helpful and clearly like what they're doing. Lots of tools, firebacks, kitchen items, some old furniture, iron items, nice little garden. Really fun!

As many have written already: Anne never lived here; so, well advertised...

However, a visit is worthwhile, if you have visited the castle first and bought a combined ticket (only the house is a bit too expensive...).
Most beautiful is the garden, which displays a variety of plants (labelled , You don’t have to recognise them...) that were used for different things in the past and have fallen into oblivion over the years.
The ironworks are very interesting and worth the visit per se.
As far as the ‘Tudor’ house is concerned, I’d say that it is worth seeing, i.e. standing in a parlour.
The cafeteria can be congratulated on its gluten- and lactose-free choices of food! Home made flapjacks, wow!
Toilet facilities for customers, obviously.
Off street parking might be a problem at times, so bring a map of Lewes...

What a lovely place to visit for another little insight into Tudor history. The staff are friendly and although a smallish house and museum, there were plenty of things to learn and talk about. It is beautifully kept and what better way to finish than with a cup of tea and cake or lunch in the garden café. It was a hot day so you may need to take a fan or bottle of water while looking round the house. Perfect in the garden on a warm sunny day.
