The George IV Hotel is a great stay, especially for a quick weekend getaway! You must stay here!!
We stayed in a Seaview double. The room was large, clean, warm and had exactly the view as described!! Without being spectacular, the room was well decorated and furnished...including iPod/iPhone docking station and free wifi (which you hardly ever get in chain hotels). In terms of the room it had a comfy bed, good shower (purchasable toiletries!?) and freeview tv.
The location is perfect for anybody 'just visiting' Brighton. It is right on the seafront (set back about 100m in a quiet square) just opposite the old pier that burnt down. It is also walking distance from many of the shops, bars and restaurants. We walked to The Lanes and North Street areas easily (10mins). Parking was fine, they recommend a car park 2 min walk which was £10 for a 24hr period (£20 for the weekend). Only interacted with the staff over phone and at check-in but seemed friendly.
Breakfast was not included and seemed a little pricey, though we did not have one. It may be a little more expensive than a Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Inn but it is worth it, even for a fleeting stay. Only other 'bad' point was the noisy floor boards of the room above us - not sure why the guests were walking around for an hour at 7am on a sunday?? But it did keep us from sleeping a little...This is NOT a reason not to stay here, we had a really lovely stay!! Book now!!
